Throughout all of my first semester for photography class I really ended up enjoying playing around with liminal space, color, and artificial light to create interesting night photography. But, over the course of this semester my style began to evolve into finding those same moments of transition with natural ligh and formal composition. Two photographers are responsible for this subtle shift in style, namely Ernst Haas, and Clarissa Bonet.
As stated previously I have grown more attached to documentary photography and therefore it will be my genre of photography for this project. My book titled A Study in Blue the color blue as a backdrop for me to explore different organic and geometric shapes of both light, and architecture. Utlilizing to what I learned from Bonet, I use natural light and space, both negative and flat, to frame my subjects. From Haas, I follow his use of color that saturated his images to create vibrant cityscapes. Altogether, these elements culminate into a 52 page photo book.
