A grand party with 108 in attendance. Social distancing rules were in effect with tables from 2 to 10 and of course we were outside under the stars. The weather committee put in an order for good weather (NO RAIN) and boy is was a perfect evening. The entertainment was great our president came through with great music and song. Also entertained by member Bobby Laperuta, and then there was, Opera and pop singer Kristina Farrah Notghi who sang Nessun Dorma, she received a standing ovation. Funds received will go to our Scholarship fund and Children’s Oncology Center at Saint Mary’s Hospital. For UNICO Highland Beach Chapter’s “Music Therapy Program”.

ferrari 2021 Team Launched Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow presented the 2021 team in an on-line event which involved not only team partners and the media but also over 300 fans linked up from all over the world to see Charles Leclerc’s and Carlos Sainz’s first official appearance of the year in Scuderia colours.From Maranello to the world. The event began with a short film presenting this season’s driver pairing, as they chatted away. There was obvious chemistry between them, as had already been seen after the Fiorano test a few weeks back, when they drove a 2018 F1 car. After the film, Charles, Carlos and Team Principal Mattia Binotto were seen in a studio setting in the Ferrari Museum in Maranello.A year for redemption. Binotto was the first to speak, explaining that “2021 will be a particularly challenging year. After a difficult season last year, we know that we have to come good in this championship and it will be important to demonstrate our will to win, even though we know this will be a transition year, partly because the regulations do not allow us to substantially change the car and we will simply bring an evolution to the track. We have identified what were the problems with the SF1000 and we have improved the car in all the areas allowed by the regulations. We have a new engine, revised aerodynamics and a modified rear end. We want to do well and can’t wait to take to the track and go up against our competition, to check how good a job we have done.”Every detail counts. Mattia Binotto also tackled the topic of the reorganisation of the technical department, which was recently updated. “We are aware that in seasons like the one that lies ahead, the slightest detail can make a difference and so we have worked on every front,” he said.

“The changes made in the technical department also have this in mind, because we believe that defining the roles and responsibilities in the best way possible means everyone in the team can give their best. That will be even more important this year when we also have to work on the 2022 car, which required a clean sheet of paper in terms of its design, since there will be radical changes to the regulations.”Drivers. The Team Principal also spoke about the new driver pairing. “They are young and similar in certain respects and I think they are very strong,” he stated. “I know they can’t wait to go head to head on track, but I know they are both aware that, first and foremost comes Ferrari and its interests and so there is no hierarchy. If we were to be clever enough to become the dominant force in Formula 1, then maybe we can start to make certain assessments. But for the moment, there is no room for this sort of discussion. First we need to catch up with our competitors.”Tifosi. While the majority of questions from the media were aimed at Binotto, when it was the turn of the fans to link up to the studio discussion, Charles and Carlos were centre stage. Naturally, enough, the Monegasque confirmed he is impatient to go racing, while also saying that despite everything he was proud of how he had performed in 2020. “Having gone through a difficult season like the last one, it has made me more patient and above all, has made me understand how much small details can make a difference,” he affirmed. “I improved my tyre management and worked on the quality of feedback I gave to the engineers and that will also prove useful this season.”Honour and responsibility. Carlos Sainz was the newcomer today. “I am now counting the hours until I drive the SF21 for the first time,” said the Spaniard. “Being part of the team with the most history and most wins in Formula 1 is a great source of pride for me but it also brings with it a responsibility. I have already spent two months in Maranello, I have got to know the team, their faces and their names. During this time, I realised how important Ferrari is and how being a driver for this team also means being a global ambassador for Italy. I am really looking forward to entertaining our fans.”

La lunga storia vincente di Ferrari ai BBC TopGear Magazine Awards prosegue anche nel 2020 con due riconoscimenti, ottenuti rispettivamente dalla 812 GTS nella categoria Noise of the Year (“Sound dell’anno”) e dalla SF90 Stradale nella categoria Eco-Warrior of the Year, (“Campione ecologico dell’anno”). Grazie a questi due premi Ferrari raggiunge il traguardo di 18 BBC TopGear Magazine Awards vinti negli ultimi 17 anni. Di particolare interesse la motivazione che ha spinto la giuria ad assegnare i premi alle due vetture del Cavallino Rampante:Sound dell’anno: 812 GTSLa 812 GTS è una decappottabile davvero fuori di testa. Certo, a qualsiasi auto basterebbe quel minaccioso, bestiale, ruggente V12 da 9.000 giri/min. che pungola l’ego del pilota e ne frantuma i sensi per essere degna di nota. Tuttavia, solo una vettura come questa, che abbina al propulsore uno sterzo estremamente reattivo, una dinamica di guida da vera divoratrice della strada e delle curve (risultato assurdo per una belva di queste dimensioni) e un cambio che riesce straordinariamente a inviare scariche di dopamina giù per la schiena del guidatore al semplice tocco delle palette, è in grado di offrire un’esperienza di guida a cui si può credere solo dopo essere saliti a bordo.Campione ecologico dell’anno: SF90 StradaleSe la LaFerrari è stato il primo cauto tentativo di Maranello sulla strada dell’ibrido, la SF90 Stradale ha portato la sfida a un livello superiore per il Cavallino Rampante. La 812 GTS e la SF90 Stradale non sono auto in edizione limitata, bensì nuove aggiunte alla gamma del Cavallino Rampante: mentre la prima segna il ritorno nella line-up di una spider V12 dai tempi della 365 GTS4, la seconda ha creato un segmento totalmente nuovo per il marchio, portando una supercar ibrida da 1000cv al top di gamma Ferrari per la prima volta. With the Targa roof, the Silhouette - which is the evolution of the Urraco – proposed an alternative open version with the intention of winning over the difficult United States market. The engine, now perfected, which had four overhead camshafts in the 3-litre version, allowed a maximum speed of 260 km/h. And despite this, after two prototypes, only 53 Silhouettes were produced, the last one being used and tested as the Jalpa prototype.

Meet Lamborghini's Chief Technical Officer - Maurizio Reggiani

Maurizio Reggiani was born in San Martino Spino (Northeastern Italy) on the 8th of February 1959 After his studies in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Modena, Maurizio Reggiani began his career in the automotive sector at Maserati, where he was in charge of engine construction and assembly from 1982 to 1987.

From 1987 to 1995 he was in charge of Engine and Transmission at Bugatti, where he was responsible for the powertrain of the EB110. Maurizio Reggiani joined Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. in 1998 as Project Leader for the Murciélago until 2001, when he became Responsible of the R&D Powertrain and Suspension Division.

Since July 2006 Maurizio Reggiani has been Chief Technical Officer at Lamborghini, where he is in charge of developing long term strategies, including body and chassis technologies, powertrain, suspension and electronics.

He also supervises all the product-driven technologies on the 12-cylinder Aventador and 10-cylinder Huracán models.

From January 2011 the Research and Development has taken over also the direction of the Centro Stile Lamborghini and his pool of designers and since 2013 he also has the responsibility of Lamborghini Squadra Corse, the Motorsport division of Automobili Lamborghini that boasts the Lamborghini Super Trofeo and the GT3 Championships. He is also involved in several professional societies, such as SAE International (Society of Automotive Engineers) and ATA (Associazione Tecnica dell’Automobile).

10 COMMANDMENTS OF ITALIAN CUISINE 1 - YOU SHALL NOT SIP CAPPUCCINO DURING A MEAL! Coffee and cappuccino are the pride of Italy in the world; but if the first is usually consumed at the end of the meal, the second, more substantial, is sipped at breakfast, usually accompanied by some pastry. You can ask for a cappuccino at the end of a meal, just know that most Italians don’t.

2 - RISOTTO AND PASTA ARE NOT A SIDE DISH The organization of courses in the Italian dining is unique and requires pasta and – most of the time – risotto to be served by themselves (apart from specific recipes such as Ossobuco milanese-style). The presentation of pasta as a side dish to others is widespread in several countries, but in Italy is seen almost as a sacrilege.

3 - YOU SHALL NOT ADD OIL TO PASTA WATER! Oil should not be added to pasta cooking water! Pasta dressing (and oil too) must be added only after you have drained it from its cooking water. Find out how to cook pasta like an Italian here.

4 - KETCHUP ON PASTA: PLEASE, DON’T This is one of the combinations that most shocks Italians; although ketchup may have some similarities to tomato sauce, pouring ketchup over pasta in the “Bel Paese” is considered a real gourmet crime. Keep ketchup for your french fries or hot dogs, please!

5 - SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE? NO WAY, IT’S TAGLIATELLE! While probably being the world’s most popular Italian recipe, you will not find any restaurant in Bologna to eat it. That’s because the original Italian recipe is “Tagliatelle Bolognese” (not spaghetti). Although this may seem a minor detail, in real Italian cuisine the pairing of the right kind of pasta with the right sauce is considered almost sacred.

6 - CHICKEN PASTA: NOT IN ITALY Speaking with American friends, one of the most frequent requests is the advice for a typical Italian recipe for pasta with chicken.

It’s always rather embarrassing to point out that in Italy there are no hot dishes featuring pasta and chicken.

7 - “CAESAR SALAD” This salad, which bears the name of its supposed creator, Caesar Cardini, is a part of the long list of recipes devised by chefs of Italian origin, but in fact is almost unknown in Italy.

8 - THE RED AND WHITE CHECKERED TABLECLOTH IS ONLY A STEREOTYPE! For some strange reason, these tablecloths are universally associated with our food and with the stereotype of the "spaghetti-eater", and abroad almost all the restaurants that want to play typical Italian use them. Probably, tourists who come to visit Italy remain somewhat disappointed when they discover that the checkered tablecloths are almost never used (only restaurants for tourists do!)

9 - “FETTUCCINE ALFREDO” ARE POPULAR ONLY OVERSEAS This is perhaps the most curious in this top ten. The fettuccine Alfredo is both the most famous “Italian” food in the United States and the least known dish in Italy. These noodles, seasoned with butter and Parmigiano Reggiano, are in fact actually been invented in the “Bel Paese”, specifically by Alfredo Di Lelio, the owner of a restaurant in Rome, but in Italy have never been imposed as a traditional dish. Overseas, however, have become increasingly popular and in time became a symbol of the good life in Rome. For this reason legions of American tourists coming to Italy hoping to enjoy the fettuccine Alfredo at every restaurant on the peninsula remain very disappointed.

10 - YOU SHALL RESPECT TRADITION AND WHAT ITALIAN MAMMA SAYS. She knows from her mamma, who knew from her mamma who knew from her mamma and so on. It's been tried and tested. And what a mother teaches at her daughter while they are cooking? That love is the center of all. We must share Italian food with your loved ones. It is what life, love and family are all about.

Regulation size of bocce ball courts is 13' by 91' but with space so limited in South Florida we do find many courts with much smaller dimensions. Backyard bocce ball courts are almost always smaller perhaps 6' by 64' feet and of course courts inside restaurants such as Louie Bossi Ristorante are much smaller and meant mostly as a novelty and to enjoy a friendly game with family and friends just after that after dinner shot of sambuca. Those on the larger courts tend to drink red wine but that is not always the case as there are some bocce ball players who do not drink at all. If you're looking for a really nice court in South Florida you will want to consider the court in La Piazza in Ironside Miami which was designed by businessman Ofer Mizrahi. The local Italian organizations especially Sons of Italy are involved in charitable construction of local courts especially in Catholic schools and they are a great source to go to for Bocce Ball related events and even local places to play bocce ball. There is also a meetup group called Free Range Bocce Ball, they have many members but they do not play on a court rather an open space. Baci - Bocce!!

Bella Venice known to Italians as Venezia

Gondolas, Canals, the iconic St Mark’s Square and Basilica, the romantic ambiance on waterside piazza's and of course delicious food… that's what I think of when I think of Venice, Italy.

Venice is the capital of the Veneto region of Italy. It is in a group of 118 small islands that are separated by canals and linked by over 400 bridges. The Venetian Islands are located in the shallow Venetian Lagoon, an enclosed bay that lies between the mouths of the Po and the Piave river.

Much of Venezia’s wealth is derived from salt production, which Venetians perfected by evaporating seawater from the lagoons surrounding the city. Salt was such a valuable commodity that it was used to pay armies for their service, this is where the word “salary” came from, which we all still use today.

A dish not to miss, in Venenzia, is Branzino Intrecciato, Mediterranean Sea Bass braided with rosemary and baked in white wine. So rich in flavor you won't forget it just like this amazing city!
