This year will mark the 3rd annual occurrence of the Florida Mediterranean Fest. At the two prior events donations were made to local 501(c)3 charities including: In Jacob’s Shoes, Figaro Angel Network and Food for the Poor.

The chamber hired Gyorgy Lakatos to perform at the 2nd annual Mediterranean Fest and we were planning to hire him for this year’s event but unfortunately, he was recently in a bad motorcycle accident. The famous musician does not always ride his motorcycle and hence only kept basic insurance coverage. He will be out of work for quite some time and the medical bills are mounting.

Artist and social activist Domenic Esposito to exhibit new work in March at the Box Gallery in West Palm Beach, Florida

Dom will be showing his new series of artwork entitled Blank Slate, along with select pieces of his signature work addressing the Opioid Crisis, at the socially conscious Box Gallery in West Palm Beach's "Cultural Corridor." The exhibit will be curated by The Box Gallery owner Rolando Chang Barrero.

Esposito's new series titled "Blank Slate" represents the artist's reflections upon current times and the era of fear, depression, and loneliness experienced in the "new normal." Esposito explores the isolation of those living with mental illness whose challenges have been exacerbated and laid bare by the Covid-19 pandemic.

All the Blank Slate figures are hooded; their faces are either totally or partially hidden from view. Many pieces contrast bronze patinas with painted backgrounds illuminating the hooded figures' hidden, inner world while alluding to the wearer's identity. Through combining two and three-dimensional media, the artworks push the hooded subject into our visceral space creating conflict between the figure's desire to be hidden and viewers' own incompatible impulses to ignore, expose and understand.Blank Slate will be on exhibit from March 6 through March 29, 2021. A press preview will be held on March 6, and an Artist Talk, in person and virtual, on March 20. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday 11-6 p.m. or by appointment. Q.) Can you share a little about your background and how you got started in the film production industry?

Being the son of a renowned sculptor Antonio Pujia, my contact with art was constant from my birth. I have studied cinema, theater, photography and opera where my training was fundamental since I worked for 10 years as a stage director assistant working with Liliana Cavani, Placido Domingo, Ruggiero Raimondi Harold Prince and the Oscar winners Dante Ferreti, Franca Squerciapino and Eugenio Zanetti and so many others.Studied cinema and work as a film assistant in different films with Stefania Sandrelli, Chiara Caselli or the great producer Amedeo Pagani, all that gives me the chance to produce and direct different TV programs about cinema, some of them supported by Kodak.

Q.) Do you have a favorite wine?

Surely Barolo and Brunello de Montalcino are the great protagonists of Italian wine today due to its complexity and intensity, but naturally also due to its history.

Anyway, the list is long and we cannot stop talking about the Amarone, Chianti Classico, Prosecco, Sagrantino, Taurasi, Cannonau, talk about the pleausure of the Italian wine and food… something like the catalog Leporello’s aria from the of the Don Giovanni Opera, the Mozart masterpiece.

Q.) Favorite actor of all time?

Impossible choose one, there are a lot…from Charles Chaplin, Laurence Olivier, Anthony Quinn, Max Von Sydow, Peter Sellers, Toshiro Mifune…but Chaplin was the first great master, his human legacy is immense.Impossibile sceglierne uno, ce ne sono molti ... Our film "The duel of wine" starring Charlie Arturaola has toured much of the United States and contact with its representatives, from diplomats, chamber of commerce managers, distributors, journalists and the public…they have given us the opportunity to get to know the Italian community in the USA, from that perspective the publication and its dissemination reaches our hands, and because, why not? I follow Jay Shapiro closely on internet, it is a reference of the Italians in Florida.Il nostro film "Il duello del vino" con Charlie Arturaola ha girato gran parte degli Stati Uniti, abbiamo conosciuto tanta gente: diplomatici, distributori, giornalisti e pubblico ... ci hanno dato l'opportunità di conoscere la realtà delle comunità italiane negli Stati Uniti, da li che è arrivato alle nostre mani le pubblicazioni vostre, e perché, perché non dirlo?: Seguo da vicino Jay Shapiro su Internet, secondo me è un riferimento degli italiani in Florida.

Q.) How did you meet Charlie?

I met Charlie at the San Sebastian film festival, he was presenting "The ways of wine" and I had been chosen to present a project. We met and quickly understood that we should make a global film "made in Italy", why?Because is important show the the people the Italian life style with their people, wine, food, palazzos….and Charlie was the perfect star.We got to work and filmed in Italy, in spaces like "Salone del 500" in Firenze, the "Hotel Danieli" in Venezia, Montefalco in Umbria, the Soave Castel, Sardegna and of course in Barolo. Alaways was important to insert Italian wine in scenes in USA, so we shooted at the Tribeca grill from Robert De Niro in NYC and in florida itself, in Miami where Charlie drives a taxi on ocean drive, then France… le grand theatre Chatellet in Paris... well, a trip inside another trip. Charlie is an exceptional person and personality, he has a great interior light capable of radiating and attracting people's attention, his charisma and sympathy have no limits, although he is a great name inside the community of wine, for me, personally it means much more than that, even when he defines himself as a soldier of wine for me he is a guru of positivity.

Q.) Anything additional you'd like to share with respect to the value of this film to its viewers?

Our new project talks about the importance of respecting and preserving the environment ... we are talking about a wine film, so it is told through a fun spy comedy. In the plot Charlie invents new legislation, but not all power groups agree, Charlie himself must become a spy to discover who is plotting them. I am working with John Osborne and Chris Sawyer, the great sommelier in California where we meet the owners of wineries as Hess, Roederer, Williamson, Farniente…..in Italy with Alessandro Rossi from Partesa and Davide Gangi from VinoWay seeing locations in Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Campania, Puglia ... wineries such as Sandro Bottega, Feudi di San Gregorio or the Brunello di Montalcino consortium itself have participated with us in the Venice Film festival where we have presented the project, a nice event with dinner dedicated to the President of the European Parliament.

Q.) When will the movie be released and how can people watch it?

The film should have started shooting in September 2020 but the pandemic does not allow us to know until when we must postpone it. Today platforms like Netflix allow an audience of millions of people on the planet, our film could be seen by millions even when for us is very important the contact with people in film and wine festivals. ”the duel of wine” was presented in more than 70 cities in the world, more than 20 film fests and countries… I remember the words from Marco Caprai during the premiere dinner at lido “we made the first Italian Wine film from the story”, not bad a wine film comedy!

With the Targa roof, the Silhouette - which is the evolution of the Urraco – proposed an alternative open version with the intention of winning over the difficult United States market. The engine, now perfected, which had four overhead camshafts in the 3-litre version, allowed a maximum speed of 260 km/h. And despite this, after two prototypes, only 53 Silhouettes were produced, the last one being used and tested as the Jalpa prototype.

Maurizio Reggiani was born in San Martino Spino (Northeastern Italy) on the 8th of February 1959 After his studies in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Modena, Maurizio Reggiani began his career in the automotive sector at Maserati, where he was in charge of engine construction and assembly from 1982 to 1987.

From 1987 to 1995 he was in charge of Engine and Transmission at Bugatti, where he was responsible for the powertrain of the EB110. Maurizio Reggiani joined Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. in 1998 as Project Leader for the Murciélago until 2001, when he became Responsible of the R&D Powertrain and Suspension Division.

Since July 2006 Maurizio Reggiani has been Chief Technical Officer at Lamborghini, where he is in charge of developing long term strategies, including body and chassis technologies, powertrain, suspension and electronics.

He also supervises all the product-driven technologies on the 12-cylinder Aventador and 10-cylinder Huracán models.

From January 2011 the Research and Development has taken over also the direction of the Centro Stile Lamborghini and his pool of designers and since 2013 he also has the responsibility of Lamborghini Squadra Corse, the Motorsport division of Automobili Lamborghini that boasts the Lamborghini Super Trofeo and the GT3 Championships. 10 COMMANDMENTS OF ITALIAN CUISINE 1 - YOU SHALL NOT SIP CAPPUCCINO DURING A MEAL! Coffee and cappuccino are the pride of Italy in the world; but if the first is usually consumed at the end of the meal, the second, more substantial, is sipped at breakfast, usually accompanied by some pastry. You can ask for a cappuccino at the end of a meal, just know that most Italians don’t.

2 - RISOTTO AND PASTA ARE NOT A SIDE DISH The organization of courses in the Italian dining is unique and requires pasta and – most of the time – risotto to be served by themselves (apart from specific recipes such as Ossobuco milanese-style). The presentation of pasta as a side dish to others is widespread in several countries, but in Italy is seen almost as a sacrilege.

3 - YOU SHALL NOT ADD OIL TO PASTA WATER! Oil should not be added to pasta cooking water! Pasta dressing (and oil too) must be added only after you have drained it from its cooking water. Find out how to cook pasta like an Italian here.

4 - KETCHUP ON PASTA: PLEASE, DON’T This is one of the combinations that most shocks Italians; although ketchup may have some similarities to tomato sauce, pouring ketchup over pasta in the “Bel Paese” is considered a real gourmet crime. Keep ketchup for your french fries or hot dogs, please!

5 - SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE? NO WAY, IT’S TAGLIATELLE! While probably being the world’s most popular Italian recipe, you will not find any restaurant in Bologna to eat it. That’s because the original Italian recipe is “Tagliatelle Bolognese” (not spaghetti). Although this may seem a minor detail, in real Italian cuisine the pairing of the right kind of pasta with the right sauce is considered almost sacred.

6 - CHICKEN PASTA: NOT IN ITALY Speaking with American friends, one of the most frequent requests is the advice for a typical Italian recipe for pasta with chicken.

It’s always rather embarrassing to point out that in Italy there are no hot dishes featuring pasta and chicken.

7 - “CAESAR SALAD” This salad, which bears the name of its supposed creator, Caesar Cardini, is a part of the long list of recipes devised by chefs of Italian origin, but in fact is almost unknown in Italy.

8 - THE RED AND WHITE CHECKERED TABLECLOTH IS ONLY A STEREOTYPE! For some strange reason, these tablecloths are universally associated with our food and with the stereotype of the "spaghetti-eater", and abroad almost all the restaurants that want to play typical Italian use them. Probably, tourists who come to visit Italy remain somewhat disappointed when they discover that the checkered tablecloths are almost never used (only restaurants for tourists do!)

9 - “FETTUCCINE ALFREDO” ARE POPULAR ONLY OVERSEAS This is perhaps the most curious in this top ten. The fettuccine Alfredo is both the most famous “Italian” food in the United States and the least known dish in Italy. These noodles, seasoned with butter and Parmigiano Reggiano, are in fact actually been invented in the “Bel Paese”, specifically by Alfredo Di Lelio, the owner of a restaurant in Rome, but in Italy have never been imposed as a traditional dish. Overseas, however, have become increasingly popular and in time became a symbol of the good life in Rome. For this reason legions of American tourists coming to Italy hoping to enjoy the fettuccine Alfredo at every restaurant on the peninsula remain very disappointed.

10 - YOU SHALL RESPECT TRADITION AND WHAT ITALIAN MAMMA SAYS. She knows from her mamma, who knew from her mamma who knew from her mamma and so on. It's been tried and tested. Venice is the capital of the Veneto region of Italy. It is in a group of 118 small islands that are separated by canals and linked by over 400 bridges. The Venetian Islands are located in the shallow Venetian Lagoon, an enclosed bay that lies between the mouths of the Po and the Piave river.

Much of Venezia’s wealth is derived from salt production, which Venetians perfected by evaporating seawater from the lagoons surrounding the city. Salt was such a valuable commodity that it was used to pay armies for their service, this is where the word “salary” came from, which we all still use today.

A dish not to miss, in Venenzia, is Branzino Intrecciato, Mediterranean Sea Bass braided with rosemary and baked in white wine. So rich in flavor you won't forget it just like this amazing city!
