A RESIDENTIAL RENOVATION

The renovation is guided by an appreciation for spaces that hold meaning over time. This project prioritizes continuity, restraint, and longevity. Existing architectural rhythms are respected and refined, allowing nostalgic elements to persist through updated materiality and spatial clarity. The design bridges past and present to create a home that feels both grounded and renewed.

The kitchen needs minor updates to create a more modern, contemporary atmosphere, but most materiality is timeless. FF + E are the only aspects of this space being updated, particularly lighting fixtures and furniture.

This space is conceived as a casual gathering moment that bridges the kitchen and living area. While rooted in a blend of traditional and modern design, it introduces a lighter, more relaxed character through playful materiality and subtle moments of color.

This space will be a refined and sophisticated space that balances formality with warmth and comfort. The design emphasizes a curated material palette, thoughtful proportions, and a restrained use of detail to create an atmosphere that remains timeless.

DESIGN CONCEPT PROPOSED RENDERING

The orientation of the family room will be shifted to face the timeless fireplace. A television will be mounted above the mantle and a curved sofa will be specified to encourage close-knit gathering and maintain a traditional atmosphere in the space. A custom builtin will be placed on the eastern wall for storage and extended seating.

The master suite will have a total change in atmosphere through materiality and furnishings. A contemporary yet traditional look will come into play, while remaining mature and sophisticated.

The orientation of the master bedroom will be mirrored to accentuate the beautiful view, while maintaining visual access to the television. The door to the closet and master bath areas will also be moved from the east to west side of the south bedroom wall to provide easier circulation from entrance to those hidden areas.
