AVANCE received the longitudinal reports from Houston ISD in March 2018. The reports will be reviewed and analyzed to identify areas of strength and needed improvement. The school readiness/data committee will make recommendations about the use of data and needed interventions by December 2018.

HS/EHS- Implemented a calendar of activities to encourage increased involvement from families. Over 60 fathers came in to the classrooms to read to the children in May 2018. This will be an ongoing activity to better incorporate fathers into the children’s learning at the centers.

The EHS/HS management team plans to identify two candidate centers for accreditation and create a NAEYC timeline by December 2018.

The program will establish a baseline in August 2018 of client participation and graduation rates in order to measure the rate of increase over a three year period.

The program will explore potential expansion opportunities for the upcoming program year by September 2018.

PCEP-Increased alignment with EHS/HS and Texas Child Care Licensing standards is now taking place. The PCEP staff will be provided with training on Child Care Licensing and Head Start standards by August 2018.

On Track Initiated planning meetings with potential Adult Education Community Providers such as HCC, HCL, and Lone Star College to provide a two Gen approach through quality child care services, case management and support services to enable low-skilled adults a second chance to succeed. Participated in a research project funded by Penn State University and the U.S, Department of Education to examine how urban adult education providers in Houston design and implement career pathways. Key findings will be discussed in future meetings and consider as factors that contribute to student success.

Invited to attend the Fatherhood Summit at the University of Texas at Austin to learn latest trends and strategies in the fatherhood arena, network with educators and experts in the field and brainstorm ideas to develop a Fatherhood Task Force to strengthen and increase responsible fatherhood programs in Texas.

A Board driven task force will be established by December 2018 with the Development Committee.

Plans are on its way to develop this Task Force Advisory Committee and hold the first meeting in August 2018.

FOCUS: AVANCE will continue to document the success of its model and advocate for policies that recognize the value of parents in ensuring school-ready children through regular interaction with State and Government agencies.

Assessment of IT, MIS, and Facilities upgrades will be completed by July 2018 to identify needs and priorities for the upcoming program year.

By December 2018, the Sr. Director of Human Resources will create a written plan and timeline for completing a compensation study and employee satisfaction survey by deadline.

AVANCE-Houston will conduct a compensation study to determine competitive rates of pay and the types of benefit programs expected by today's employees. With this information, we will be better equipped to maximize employee productivity. The compensation study will begin in September 2018 and finalized by July 1, 2020.

The committee has started to implement new initiatives to strengthen staff morale such as Birthday Celebrations, School Family Pictures, and the Kindness Tree (visual display to acknowledge good deeds/accomplishments of employees). The committee also developed core characteristics of good customer service and plan to work with marketing on signage. The Sr. Director of HR has been appointed to facilitate this committee.
