Reading improves a whole host of functions and literally changes the structure of the brain. In the book, Proust and the Squid by Mariane Wolf, she states that, “There are few more powerful mirrors of the human brain's astonishing ability to rearrange itself to learn a new intellectual function than the act of reading”. Reading is connected to almost all daily tasks and allows us to interact and engage with the world around us, while simultaneously strengthening and heightening overall brain function. Reading not only solidifies memories and aids in reconsolidation, but also improves many other aspects of the brain.
