ABOUT ME

My passion for design grew and cultivated as a child. I would always be the first volunteer to go and tour open homes in my area or estate sales because I took an interest in how other homes were decorated and designed. I want to use interior design to help others feel motivated and inspired and ultimately to create a place people can feel welcomed. I admire a variety of styles, but am very inspired by old architecture and antiques. I want to create spaces that are a unique blend of new and old. In the future, I see myself applying my skills in the commercial industry.

BURLINGTON CO-WORK SPACE

Description:

During our Junior Fall semester project at Texas Tech University, we were tasked with designing a commercial co-working space, alongside a retail space and a cafe, within a chosen US town. My chosen town was Burlington, Vermont. The project required ten renderings, and two rendered floor plans. We were also required to present the best aspects of our programming and design development phases. To accomplish this, we learned Revit within a semester and utilized it to create a two-floor commercial complex. All of our renderings were produced with Revit and Enscape.

The challenging thing about this project was trying to utilize the given space in the most efficient and functional way.

THE INSPIRATION

Green Mountain Works, the co-working space created for my junior year project, derives its name from the lush landscapes of the Green Mountain State, Vermont. Incorporating biophilic elements was essential for both the aesthetics of the design and the health and well- being of the inhabitants. In addition, the concept behind Green Mountain Works revolves around creating a collaborative working environment with a simple yet inviting design, aiming to instill a sense of comfort and productivity that entices people to return.

CONCEPT STATEMENT

Like a Cactus Blossom, this Marfan home will feel delicate, fresh, and bright. In addition, there will be an element of juxtaposition with the delicate blossom to the rough and textured cactus. There will be woven textures that are soft and delicate and rough textures like the brick on the fireplace. The home will flow like the petals on a cactus blossom, with its curvilinear lines. One room will flow to the next with these curvilinear lines. The curvilinear lines will be incorporated into the moulding, windows, surfaces, and ceiling of the home. The greenery of the cactus and pink of the blossom will be incorporated throughout the home. The home will be bright, and windows will be a central aspect of the home.

SAUDI ARABIAN DWELLING

DESCRIPTION:

The goal of this project was to redesign a co-op home on fifth Avenue in New York for 3 Saudi Arabian Siblings, two sisters and one brother. All of the siblings desire a private designated space, and the brother should ideally have his own apartment within the home. Their culture is important to them and so making the clients feel at home is an important aspect of the design. Saudi Arabians value family above most things, therefore having social spaces where they can gather together is important. They also require bedrooms for guests and their two live-in housekeepers.

The challenging thing about this project was designing for another culture and researching what was essential to them and incorporating these aspects in the span of a semester.

CONCEPT STATEMENT

The concept behind the home is Columbia University, and the home will incorporate the school colors to echo the school pride the siblings share. Within the home there will be a mix of dark and light blues like the branding of the school. The home will also have many places to study placing emphasis on the siblings' studies. The library will be two floors to accommodate the many books the siblings will have to read. Like the design of Columbia University, the inside will be a mix of a classic and modern style and the spaces will feel grand and important. The motif of arches will also be reinforced throughout the house which both echos the architecture of Columbia University and the homeowners culture.

VOYAGE VINEYARDS

DESCRIPTION

During our Junior Spring semester project at Texas Tech University, we were tasked with designing a wine resort which included 3 different selections of cottages of varying sizes, a winery and wine production space, a restaurant, a venue, and a check in and reception area. My assigned town was Loudoun County which is known for their vast vineyard landscapes and refined wineries. In preparation for this project, we researched everything there was to know about our given location, wineries and what elements are essential, and what can make our resort an overall sustainable and desirable place to stay.

Some challenges to this project included figuring out how to create a functional and spatially cohesive resort.

CONCEPT STATEMENT

The inspiration behind this project is a colonial voyage. Virginia has a deep history and was part of the original 13 colonies of the United States. The state played a major role in both the Revolutionary War and the Civil War, with big parts of those wars taking place along the coasts of Virginia. Pieces of Virginian’s coastal history and old architecture can be found in this project that both integrate the dark sides of the stories and the positive sides.

BEHIND THE COTTAGES...

ALL 3 OF THE COTTAGE LAYOUTS ARE INSPIRED BY TRADITIONAL COLONIAL FLOORPLANS WITH FORMAL ENTRYWAYS AND A DEFINED USE FOR EACH SPACE. THE THEME IS CARRIED THROUGHOUT THE HOMES AND PLAY ON THE DARK AND LIGHT ASPECTS OF A COLONIAL VOYAGE. THE INTERIORS ARE DECORATED WITH A MODERN COLONIAL STYLE. THE SPACES ARE MEANT TO FEEL LIKE A HOME AWAY FROM HOME, UTILIZING WARM COMFORTING COLORS.
