When designing The University of Alabama Autism Clinic, we wanted to create a space that feels like a journey engaging, dynamic, and full of opportunities to explore. Inspired by the sense of adventure a safari brings, we envisioned a place where kids and families could discover, grow, and feel supported at their own pace. We incorporated sensory-friendly areas, natural textures, and playful, interactive zones to make the clinic both safe and stimulating The safari theme wasn’t just about decoration it was about sparking curiosity, fostering connection, and encouraging emotional growth. From the animal motifs to the calming, nature-inspired design, every detail was chosen with care.

DESCRIPTION

Nocturna, a restaurant and bar inspired by Nyx, the goddess of the night, and embraces the elegance of the night sky through a striking monochrome palette of black and white materials. My vision is to create an atmosphere that is both mystical and sophisticated, drawing guests into an enchanting world where light and dark harmoniously dance together. The use of deep black materials evokes the mystery and depth of the night, while crisp white elements provide a luminous contrast, symbolizing the stars that pierce the darkness. The interior features sleek, polished surfaces that create a seamless flow, mirroring the fluidity of nightfall. Subtle starry motifs are integrated throughout, from textiles to wall tiles, reflecting the celestial beauty that Nocturna embodies. The space is both dramatic and serene, inviting guests to linger beneath the stars in a setting that speaks to the divine yet grounded nature of the goddess. Nocturna is not just a restaurant; it’s an immersive design experience where the powerful beauty of the night comes alive in every corner.
