What is Fashion Styling?

Stylists are the new generation of fashion professionals. Style is more than the clothes we wear. It impacts how we feel and what we communicate to the world. For the everyday consumer, the impact that mindless and incorrect garment purchases has on our environment is becoming impossible to ignore. And stylists are the pivotal service to engage to change this behaviour. Not only as they assist in saving time and money, but helping clients to purchase more consciously. Communication and knowledge are at the heart of any client relationship, and we equip you with extensive human behaviour training so that you're ready to work with a variety of clients, anywhere in the world. In editorial and commercial styling, stylists are the visionaries who bring ideas to life. We've observed a dramatic increase in the need for stylists and creative directors over the past decade, as social media takes the lead in attracting customers to fashion brands who are constantly adapting to reach new markets. Advanced Certificate of Fashion Styling Combining the Certificate of Personal Styling and the Certificate of Editorial Styling into one comprehensive program, this course gives you the skills, confidence, and versatility to succeed across both client-facing and creative styling careers. Designed for those who want more than a single pathway, this course equips you to work with personal clients, create transformative wardrobe experiences, and confidently style photoshoots, magazine editorials, branded campaigns, and commercial projects. Frequently Asked Questions When do the courses commence? For a list of our upcoming course dates, click HERE or head to page 21 of our course guide. All students select an online start date to commence their course and booking for in-person trainings is done manually via phone or email to the team. Spots are limited in each intake, so if you know when you'd like to start, we recommend enrolling as early as possible to secure your preferred date.

When do I get access to my course? You will receive access to your course and learning resources on your selected course start date. Upon enrolment, you'll receive your login details to access our Online Learning Centre where your course will be housed, as well as a short Student Orientation to watch prior to officially commencing your course.

Can I enrol today but start at a later date? As we have limited numbers for each intake, we recommend enrolling in as soon as possible to secure your place. Upon enrolling, you will be promoted to select your preferred course date.

What do I receive when I enrol? Following your successful enrolment, you will receive a confirmation email welcoming you to the ASI Community and a receipt of your payment. You will receive your student login details to access a Student Orientation to get you acquainted with the team and what to expect as you embark on your styling journey. From here, the Student Development Team will be in touch to welcome you and confirm if you'd like to attend one of our in-person training sessions.

Are there any practical components to the course and how would this work as an online student? Each course has practical exercises and activities embedded throughout so our students get to implement their skills as they progess through the course. The exercises are a combination of research, moodboard development and some in-person experiences. Our online students use people in their network to complete these exercises or reach out to creatives they wish to collaborate with. For students who attend our in-person trainings, they'll complete many of the exercises in the classroom. We design each activity to help students build their hours in the craft of styling and also their confidence in their skills, so when they complete the course, they are industry ready.

Can I add another course or upgrade my enrolment at any time? Yes, you can upgrade into another course at any time during your current course's duration. This allows you access additional certificates while saving at the ‘Advanced’ and ‘Masters’ bundle rates. Outside of this timeframe Certificates are individually priced at $3,995.

How does the payment plan work? Your first payment is made upon enrolment to secure your place in the course. Monthly payments are debited on the same date each month for the duration of your payment plan. Example: If you enrol on the 20th of the month, subsequent payments will be debited on the 20th of each month. Payment plans incur a $1,000 fee, which is added to the total course fee and divided equally into your monthly payments.

Payment plan duration: 6 months for the Certificate of Fashion Styling (Editorial & Personal) 12 months for the Advanced Certificate of Fashion Styling 18 months for the Masters Certificate of Fashion Styling

How long does each course take to complete, and is there a suggested guideline for study duration? This really depends on how much time our students can dedicate to their studies outside of their other commitments. For online only students, we recommend a minimum of 3-5 hours a week of study to ensure the course is completed within the designated duration. Students who attend in-person training will complete up to 70% of their coursework in the classroom, fast tracking their learning and reducing the amount of study hours required to complete online.

The course durations are as follows: - Certificate of Fashion Styling = 6 months - Advanced Certificate of Fashion Styling = 12 months - Masters Certificate of Fashion Styling = 18 months
