DISPLEMAKING GROUPS

Disciplemaking groups (D-Groups) are small (4-6 people), same-gender groups that meet weekly, working through a curriculum designed by the Ridge around our beliefs of who a disciple is and what a disciple does.

D-Groups were created and designed specifically to make disciples who can make disciples. By learning to study the Bible for yourself, think theologically, develop spiritual disciplines, and articulate all of that in your own words, we believe you will be prepared for whatever God has next for you!

Groups are always forming and we are always looking for leaders, as well. Visit our website to learn more and fill out an interest form to start or join a group.

LIFE GROUPS

If you call the Ridge your church home, we want you to have people to do life with, to connect with on a deeper level, and to grow with spiritually. Life Groups are small communities of people who meet regularly in neighborhoods around the region and share the same season of life.

We are always in the process of launching new groups and would love to help you start the process of finding one. Visit our website to learn more and fill out an interest form to start or join a group.

MISSIONS

As Christ-followers, Jesus calls us to make a spiritual difference in the lives of others where we are, in our city, and around the world. We believe God's passionate pursuit of all people compels us to reach the unreached and serve the vulnerable in the city and around the world. Ridge Missions is honored to work alongside our mission partners to advance the gospel in the areas below:

REACH THE UNREACHED

IN OUR CITY

Disciplemaking among the Middle East community in Austin

SERVE THE VULNERABLE

Caring for vulnerable children and families through Foster Care and Supporting Roles

Disciple-making and church-planting among the Unreached Hindus in India

Helping end forced-labor slavery and online sexual exploitation of children in Southeast Asia

Where you are

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem... Judea and Samaria... to the end of the earth.”

(Acts 1:8)

At Austin Ridge, “Where You Are,” means to be equipped to serve your community through prayer, meeting tangible needs, and having spiritual conversations.

As Christians, if we do nothing more than “invite to church,” we sometimes unknowingly are asking people to hurdle barriers to find Jesus. These barriers might be cultural, socio-economic, language, transportation, fears, etc.

We seek to move into the spaces where people feel most comfortable–this may be their homes, their neighborhoods, or with their people, language, style and foods. We want them to discover Jesus within their community.

OUR VISION AT THE RIDGE IS TO EFFECTIVELY ENGAGE AND MOBILIZE CHRIST-FOLLOWERS INTO ONE THOUSAND DIVINE LOCATIONS AND SPACES “WHERE YOU ARE” TO BE WORKERS FOR THE GOSPEL.

JESUS HAS ALREADY OPENED SOME SPECIFIC LOCATIONS AND SPACES “WHERE YOU ARE”:

NEIGHBORHOODS

apartment complexes, neighborhood blocks, workplaces, sports fields and clubs, fitness centers, coffee shops, and extended family relationships.

Contact: missions@austinridge.org

LATINO

prayer-walking in mobile home parks and neighborhoods; utilizing English language teaching and home improvement projects to begin spiritual conversations, and discovery Bible studies.

MIDDLE EAST

SERVE WITH OUR GLOBAL RIDGE MISSIONS PARTNERS

The following are the five UPGs (Unreached People Groups) for whom we as a church are praying and partnering with to see a healthy indigenous church established. We have partnered with BLESS to support these workers who are sharing the love of Jesus with people who have never heard His name and have little or no access to a local church or Bible. To learn more about our partnership, visit austinridge.org/upg

FROM BROKENNESS TO BREAKTHROUGH

GREG WALKER LIVED IT. ALL OF IT.

Today, he volunteers with the Care Ministry at Austin Ridge, but for over twenty years he was wrapped up in the throes of addiction to drugs and alcohol. That twenty-plus-year journey started when he was a football player at the University of Houston. He partied with cocaine and alcohol, but the habits continued to grow beyond college. Fast forward a few years, and Greg was running a successful business in spite of an active and costly addiction. He was struggling to hang on while putting on a front that he had his life together. Business was good. Money was flowing in. But by 2011, he was divorced, the FBI was investigating his company for fraud, and he was trying to find an escape for himself and his children.

“My addiction was very expensive,” Greg said. “And I did something I swore I would never do. I went from OxyContin to heroin. Not heroin. I'm not those kinds of guys. That's not who I am. But I did it. I swore I'd never do it, but I did.”

Life continued to spiral out of control. Greg couldn’t outrun the charges against him. He was sentenced to prison for wire fraud. While in prison, he was presented with multiple opportunities to grow in his faith, but it still wasn’t transformative.

“I learned to quit breaking rules, but I didn't have a relationship with Jesus. I got out in 2017. I had no money, no savings, nothing. I was starting over, but I felt good about myself. I was healthy. “

Greg started to rebuild his life. He eventually met Teresa, who is now his wife. Teresa had grown up as a preacher’s kid but searched for peace and fulfillment in everything and everyone but Jesus. During their engagement, Greg watched as Teresa pulled out her childhood Bible and began truly seeking a faith in Jesus that she had heard all about growing up. He watched as

Teresa eventually surrendered her life to Jesus, and the peace that came over her was something he desired as well.

They landed at Austin Ridge with intentions to stabilize their lives and learn more about Jesus. But life wasn’t easy by any means. A string of busted business deals left them broke and desperate for answers.

“I tell people I’ve had millions of dollars in the bank and couldn't sleep a wink,” Greg said. “And I've had no money and the peace of God where I sleep like a baby every night. It got really bad. Hocking rings, selling cars, being late on rent. I know God wanted Teresa and I to make our identity in Him. My kids grew up with private planes. Teresa's ex-husband was wealthy. Our identity had always been in stuff and our social position. And God wanted us to realize that our identity is in Him.”

Greg continued to dive into God’s word. Roman’s 8:1, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,” became especially real for him, and Greg made the decision to make Jesus his Lord and Savior.

“I will tell you what’s most convicting to me. I used to be like that and now I’m like this. And there’s no other way to explain it other than the salvation of Jesus Christ and my relationship with Him. I mess up daily. I really do. But I have a Lord that forgives me. I have a Holy Spirit that guides me, and I have a God that doesn’t hold a record over my past. There’s just so much freedom.”

Desiring to share with others what God had done for him, Greg became involved in a recovery Bible study at Austin Ridge through the Care Ministry. One morning each week men gather to study God’s Word and admit their addictions and hangups to each other and bring

them to the Lord. Greg became a fixture and lay leader of the group.

Now, it is an active group of men seeking healing from alcohol and drug addiction. Some guys are decades deep into addictions and battling every day for freedom, while others are decades into recovery. The common denominator is a desire to confess and drag everything into the light as they pursue a daily dependence on Jesus.

“We have guys that have 30 days and 77 days and 100 days. You can see the light in their eyes. They want it so bad. They just need guys who can support them, not judge them. Support them and be there no matter what,” Greg said.

The purpose of the Ridge Care Ministry is to provide hope, healing, and support to individuals facing life’s toughest challenges, including addiction, grief, financial struggles, and broken relationships and experience life-transformation only Jesus provides. By walking alongside people in their darkest moments, the Care Ministry seeks to restore lives, rebuild families, and demonstrate that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace.

“There's so much shame and guilt,” Greg said. “Get rid of it. God forgives you. Because, again, life is hard by itself. You add addictions in there and it gets really tough. But God can free us from that. And He has. We're here to support you. We're here to love on you. We're here to listen. We're not here to tell you what to do. We're here to listen and tell you about our experiences and tell you how Christ freed us from this.”

If you are struggling with addiction, reach out to care@austinridge.org to help navigate your next season of life and find freedom.

KNOW Jesus: Connecting kids with their Savior. The first step in hearing the gospel and coming to a relationship is knowing Christ.

GROW Jesus: Helping kids and families grow closer in their relationship with Jesus through worship, Bible study, small groups, large groups, and resources to continue the conversations through the week.

RIDGE INTERNSHIPS

Ridge Internships are designed to develop Christ-centered leaders committed to following God’s calling wherever He may lead. Internships provide the training needed to seek future ministry employment, with hands-on work experience, life-changing mentorship, and discipleship from seasoned leaders. We offer year-long and summer internships, designed to move you towards your purpose. These programs are for those who want to explore or take their next step in a call to ministry. Applications are now open for summer internships, and applications for our year-long program will open soon!

Interpretation Services

We offer American Sign Language (ASL), Spanish, and Ukrainian interpretation at our Bee Cave Campus during our 11am Sunday service.

We are committed to providing resources for everyone to feel welcome and included as we pursue people for Christ at all costs!

NEXT is our capital campaign that supports the expansion of our campuses to provide environments for people to KNOW, GROW, and SERVE Jesus, both for those who currently attend the Ridge, and for those who have not yet visited our church. We want to respond to what God has done and is doing out of prayerful obedience and a desire to reach more people with the gospel.

You've heard me say that we should always be looking forward to what is NEXT. A healthy church should be growing and expanding to reach more people with the gospel who will then reach their communities and, ultimately, the world. Because of the Lord's incredible work, Austin Ridge continues to grow and expand. The following page outlines the path of expansion that God has laid before us.

I’m excited about what is happening! Over the next few years, we believe the Dripping Springs campus will be completed, and we will move north as we acquire Great Hills Baptist Church. Austin Ridge elders, staff, and leadership are committed to these projects and have personally pledged to this campaign. The elders have already earmarked an initial installment of $30 million for NEXT.

Your generosity through the years has made this seed money possible, and if you haven’t already, we invite you to join us now by making a three-year pledge to the NEXT fund. Please prayerfully consider how you can be part of making a spiritual difference in the lives of others by giving to these Kingdom-building projects.

THE RIDGE ROUNDTABLE PODCAST EQUIPPING “ON THE GO”

Joey Ruyter, Jeff Moore, and Lorri Winkcompleck host a 30-minute weekly podcast that challenges Christ-followers to evaluate what we believe about the Scriptures and how those beliefs impact so much of everyday life. The crew is honest, funny, and practical as they confront the sometimes -messy reality of putting our faith into practice.

The Ridge Roundtable Podcast is back this winter with a new series called, “Out of Context.” There are so many verses and passages familiar to Christians that don’t mean what we traditionally think they mean. In this series, we will study those well-known passages, figure out what the Word is really saying, and talk about why it matters.
