August 2025

Goodafternoon,lions!
I hope you all are enjoying the summertime with your family and friends!
First Lady Lion Edith and I had the wonderful opportunity to be in Orlando Florida for the Lions International Convention. We both participated in the Parade of Nations representing District 1A and MD1 (Multiple District 1). It was certainly a sight to see with all the clubs from around the world marching together as one and excited about a brand-new Lions year of service. I always mention
how FUN comes first, and SHOP comes second. Well, Lion Edith made sure to enjoy all the FUN seminars while I took in all Plenary sessions filled with FUN SHOP talk. lol
IP (International President) Ap Singh’sthemeforhisyearis,Leadto ServeandServetoLead.Thismeans thatleadershipisn’tatitle,it’sabout action. It’s about using your platform or position to make a difference and setting an example for our Family of Lion volunteers to take action to meet and exceed the needs of our communities. How do we do this as leaders? By being
Servant Leaders and empowering our Lions family in their efforts for service and growth. While serving others, this breeds those natural leadership qualities of empathy, initiative and honor. When our servant leaders consistently engage in service it means they understand the humanitarian mission and by doing so, they naturally grow into Leadership. Leadership and Service have a natural Synergy.
So,asyoucontinuebuildingonyour success of service, I want you to consideryourselvesServantLeaders and be excited about all the wonderful projects and relationships you are having or plan on having. I want you all to feel empowered by that excitement! Everyone in this Lions Family is here to support you. Remember, lines on amapdonotdivideus,we’reallone team. You can count on fellow club support, district support, state support and international support.
My theme for my year is GO LIONS GO! It’s a chant for excitement, a chant for empowerment and a chant for celebrating service! I look forwardtocontinuingtoseeallyour successandI’llbethefirsttogetout of your way, but I’ll also be the first to support you along the way.
Keep those invites coming in, I look forward to spending time with you all and meeting some new and familiar faces along the way!

Mission 1.5
Asstatedontheinternationalwebsite“We’reonamissiontogrow.Andsocial media is one of the best tools we have for spreading our message, sharing successstories,andinspiringfellowLionstojointhedrivetoreach1.5million members worldwide. MISSION1.5 starts with you. So, get active with other Lions on social media now! #MissionToGrow”
Let’s see what we can do to help reach 1.5 members! We can reach and exceed our goal if every lion adds one or more new members. As a district, we need to continue improving work on retaining our members.
Overview&Mission 1.5Alignment
Mission 1.5, Lions International’s global membership growth initiative, set an ambitious target: to grow Lions Clubs International to 1.5millionmembersworldwide. The campaign focused on:
• Recruiting new members with passion and purpose.
• Strengthening club retention and engagement.
• Work to assist where needed to help clubs meet community needs or causes for service.
As GMT Coordinator, I will work closely with our district’s leadership, Global Action Team, and clubs to align our efforts with Mission 1.5. While we’ve made significant gains in awareness and training, our year-end membership data reveals key challenges—particularly around retention and club vitality.

Hello Lions,
Governor Richard is asking if there is anyone that is interested in attending the RLLI that is being held on the weekend of August 15th and 16th. There are two openings that other districts are not using, and he would like to see them filled.
If you are interested in learning how to become a leader in your club, or district, this is for you. Even if you just don't feel comfortable speaking in front of others, this can help you relax and be more comfortable. Think about it.
If you're interested, there is no cost to you. Your room and meals are covered by the institute. Let Governor Richard know ASAP.

Dear Lions Club President or Secretary, It is time to think about the Peace Poster and Essay contest. This year’s theme is “Together as One”. I hope your club will consider sponsoring a contest. Also, know that contests do not necessarily have to be organized through schools. An organization such as the Boy or Girls Scouts can have a contest, or a youth organization or a church group. If you are interested in sponsoring a contest, order a Peace Poster contest kit online from Lions International. With shipping, the cost is a little over $24.00. Then, conduct your contest. The winner must be selected, and his or her poster begiventoDistrictGovernorRichardbyNovember15.After that, Governor Richard will bring the poster to the State Contest. The contest is open to children who will be 11, 12, or 13 on November 15, 2024.
I hope your club will consider having a contest. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 224-5327366, or at historytennis@yahoo.com. Yours in Lionism,
