What did Paul mean when he said he had finished the race?

Sis Lee Email: admin@khanyisamedia.co.za WhatsApp: 084 335 6754

“I have finished the race” is the second clause of three within a passage written by the apostle Paul to Timothy: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7). The apostle wrote these words near the end of his life. These three statements reflect Paul's

struggles in preaching the gospel of Christ and his victory over those struggles. In the 1st century, the Romans celebrated both the Olympic Games and the other Games. Competitors would spend up to ten months in difficult physical training. Because the Corinthians were very familiar with these events, Paul used the games as an comparison for a believer's life of faithfulness. He wrote to the church in Corinth saying, “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who

competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever” (1 Corinthians 9:24-25). Paul's advice is that believers should be as focused and dedicated as those ancient runners in the games. Our motivation in serving Christ is much higher; we “run” not for a temporary crown, but for an eternal one. In Paul's letter to Timothy, Paul is not praising himself for having “run the full distance”; rather, he is simply describing what the grace of God had enabled him to do. In task of

the book of Acts, Paul says these powerful words: “I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace” (Acts 20:24). So, by declaring “I have finished the race,” Paul is telling Timothy that he had put every effort into the work of preaching to everybody the gospel of salvation. He had completed the course set before him; he had left nothing undone. He was ready to cross the finish line into heaven. In a race, only one runner wins. However, in the

Christian “race,” everyone who pays the price of vigilant training for the cause of Christ can win. We are not competing against one other, as in athletic games, but against the struggles, physical and spiritual, that stand in the way of our reaching the prize (Philippians 3:14). Every believer runs his own race (1 Corinthians 9:24). Each of us is enabled to be a winner. Paul urges us to “run in such a way as to get the prize,” and to do this we must set aside anything that might hinder us from living and teaching the gospel of Christ.

It Is Not SANRAL's Intention To Mislead The Public

T

he South African National Roads Agency (SOC) Limited (SANRAL) disagrees with the ruling of Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa's (ASASA) regarding the advert that was flighted on behalf of government to create awareness of the new dispensation of the e-toll system. The new dispensation made provision for a 60% discount on e-toll debt, and this was included in SANRAL advertising broadcast in May and June as part of an information campaign. Complaints were made against

the advert focusing on the government message on the basis that the promised discount was not in effect. ASASA ruled that the advertising was misleading. SANRAL General Manager for Communications Vusi Mona, emphasised that it had not been SANRAL's intention to mislead the public. “This advert was flighted from May 28th and during the month of June following the Deputy President's announcement of the new dispensation. The advert was aimed at communicating the message that Government has heard the

people and responded with a new dispensation that included the 60% discount,” said Mona. Mona said that when the details of the new dispensation were announced, it was made clear that the new system would be implemented in phases, and the adverts were not a public call to action. Full implementation of the new dispensation required a number or regulatory and system changes which had to be accommodated through a phased roll-out. “Through advertising, we sought to make the public aware of the provisions of the new plan that would assist

them in clearing their e-toll debt and make e-tolls more cost effective for Gauteng road users,” he said. Mona said this was not the first instance where SANRAL has differed with ASASA based on complaints brought forward by opponents of the e-toll system. Earlier this year ASASA ruled that a SANRAL advert stating the number of etags that had been bought by the public be pulled off air. SANRAL was later able to verify that the number had been independently audited and the number stated in the advert was correct. “In the absence of an

audit, it is normal practice to publish unaudited figures to show a trend in the interim,” said Mona. Mona highlighted the fact that information about the timing of implementation of the new dispensation was being competently communicated through the e-toll customer contact centre which deals with customer queries and complaints. “SANRAL believes that this issue should not have come before ASASA, particularly because the adverts are no longer being flighted, which in effect makes ASASA's decision null and

void, “ he added. Mona remarked that there appeared to be an organised and co-ordinated campaign against SANRAL, as the agency had received several queries which focused only on the e-toll adverts and none on their other advertising campaigns. He speculated that the complaint may have served only to draw ASASA in as an unwitting participant in their campaign. “It would be unfortunate if that were the case,” he said.

Security Re-evaluation Needs To Be Conducted In Nkandla Police Minister Nkosinathi Nhleko says a security reevaluation needs to be conducted at President Jacob Zuma’s Nkandla residence for all outstanding construction work to be completed at the home. The Minister said processes were also underway to probe the inflation of construction costs at the President’s residence. He said this when responding to concerns raised by Members of Parliament following their oversight visit to Nkandla, situated in KwaZulu-Natal, last week, to assess security and nonsecurity upgrades. The Ad Hoc Committee was set up by Parliament to consider the Police Minister’s

report on Nkandla and recommendations in which he found that the President was not liable to pay any costs in relation to findings from Public Protector Thuli Madonsela that he unduly benefited from the project. “We reiterate what has been stated by various investigative reports that outstanding work must be completed and that the security re-evaluation shall be conducted soon by a team of experts from law enforcement agencies. “Such a process must strictly adhere to principles of project management, oversight and adherence to various prescripts,” the Minister said. Ahead of the ad hoc committee’s visit to the residence, Minister Nhleko

presented the report at the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature wherein he explained several aspects of the project. After the site visit, the committee came out with several concerns, including, amongst others, “gross inflation of prices” and poor workmanship which resulted in incomplete construction work despite R206 million being spent on the project. “It should be noted that there are processes underway in relation to cost inflation, scope-creep and recoveries which falls under the purview of the Special Investigative Unit (SIU) and the National Department of Public Works…” The Minister also dismissed media reports that quoted a

Qeda Inyongo (Acid)

letter by a Senior Superintendent LF Linde where he claimed the South African Police Service (SAPS) barracks were built “by instruction of the State President”, saying it was, amongst other reasons, highly unlikely that the President would have interacted with an official of a lower rank. “It should be noted that this matter was dealt with by the SIU in its investigation report … which interviewed Linde who stated that these were his own words and not of the President which means that he was not being truthful when he wrote ‘by the instruction of the State President’. “This was, by his own account, an invention.” – SAnews.gov.za

DATE WITH GOD & LIFESTYLE

These Are the Last Days

How to get things right the first time! Philippians 1:11 "Jesus Christ will fill your lives with everything that God's approval produces. Your lives will then bring glory and praise to God." Have you often wondered how you can start living the life that Christ wants you to? If you have, you will notice that you start wondering how you know what's good and what's approved to Him right? Most of us feel so unholy when we think of how we keep doing the "wrong" things. We make planners to let go of the wrong people, and the wrong things, but then it seems like it doesn't work. This scripture shows us that, on our own we will keep doing the wrong thing over and over. But when we allow Jesus Christ to reign, He ensures that He fills us with everything that we need to make it. Allowing Jesus to lead, is the same move you made to allow Him to be your Lord and Saviour. No matter how dark and ugly your past is, Jesus Christ is still there and He wants to help you to change for the best. He wants

to assist you in letting go of what doesn't matter, so that you can start living a life of abundance (John10:10). Salvation has more to do with then just saying, "Yes" to Christ. It also involves having Him changing your mindset and also changing your life. You cannot start living right, if your are still thinking the wrong way. Jesus Christ can renovate your mindset and fill it with the right things. The best way to do that is to spend more time reading the Word of God. How did you become saved? Its because you heard about Him right? Well the next step to growing in HIM, is to keep hearing more about Him. Salvation ensures that you not only be free from a life of sin and death; you are also empowered to live a life of abundance that brings God glory. Isn't it funny how when you first meet sometime you'd like to be in a relationship with, you feel that everything is fine and amazing. But then times get rough, you don't just walk out, you are patient enough to see who this person truly is and you are keen on

seeing how they will also push with you to make things work out. That's what we ought to do with Christ to. We don't stop reading the Bible because now we know that we have said YES to Him! No! We need to keep working on the new relationship we have with Him. If you feel that your life isn't brining God glory, then it's time to take things to the next level. You cannot miss out on the full package. Christ knows who and what belongs in your life. He WILL remove the wrong people and things, and fill your life with people who matter and things that matter. The best way to flush out the negative in your life, is to start putting in the right thing. We have all seen quotes by Martin Luther King that says, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can drive out darkness. " And that stands for your life to. Nobody but Jesus Christ can break those generational curses. Only Jesus Christ can break those bad habits. Only Jesus Christ can give you a

You need to be able to allow the Word of God to be your beginning in everything you do.(John1:1). So many of us fall into the trap of doing the wrong thing at the right time, because we don't know what we need to have in our lives. Jesus Christ knows exactly what you need! And He can make it happen for you today. That is salvation! Are you willing to hear more about Him? Have a blessed week in God's beautiful presence! #InspirationalEurika

Pastor Convinces Followers His Penis Contains 'Holy Milk' : Makes Them Drink His Semen An evangelical pastor arrested for raping his faithful, after convincing them that his penis contained “sacred milk” Sobrino Valdeci Picanto, an evangelical pastor from Brazil, persuaded his followers that he practiced oral sex because it was the way he preached the word, saying that his 'milk' was sacred. And this pastor said his penis was blessed and that “the Lord had consecrated with divine milk of the Holy Spirit” and of course, had to go around evangelising. “He convinced us that only God could come into our lives through the mouth”, a follower said, “Often, after worship, Pastor Valdeci asked us to do oral sex on him until the Holy Spirit came through ejaculation and delivered funds to the church.”

Sobrino Valdeci Picanto, 59, was arrested in Apore, Goiás, Brazil, for raping several women attending his church. He gave as an excuse that his penis had been consecrated with “divine semen of the Holy Spirit.” Valdecir came to abuse some elderly, and defends himself by saying that 'he had an encounter with Jesus in a brothel and gave him the mission of spreading the sacred semen throughout the state, beginning with the faithful Apore Assembly, of which he is responsible'. Denise Pinheiro, delegate of the region, said, “Valdecir was caught redhanded while rubbing his penis in the face of a local merchant, which promised to make more sales in her business due to the divine liquid. When we acted Valdecir offered no resistance and even asked if I wanted to be part of the kingdom of heaven on the way to the police station.

Is it rational to believe that one of the Old Testament curses could be affecting yours or a family member's life today? Is it biblical? Most modern denominational churches today teach that it isn't. What is the truth? Most modern denominational churches ignore the subject and do not teach about curses at all. As a result the body of Christ is basically ignorant about them and open to their consequences. A dictionary definition of “Curse” is: An appeal or prayer for evil or misfortune to befall on someone or something. We are using this additional definition: A curse is the negative consequences that are a direct result of our disobedience to God's rules for righteous and Godly living. In God's world, they naturally happen as a result of our rebellious thinking or actions. When we do or think abc, we will receive xyz as a result. It is part of God's natural order for life. Curses can also be put upon us by other evil minded people who want us to suffer negative events or results. One can have a witchcraft curse put upon them and not even know it. The unsuspecting then suffer from the results of that curse, without ever knowing the cause or reasons.

on the part of many denominational churches. “Christians can't have a curse” is the universal mantra of modern Denominational churches. Have you been taught that Jesus came to do away with the laws contained in Deuteronomy 28 in the Old Testament? That question addresses the heart of this very important issue. Do you believe that since we live in the era of the “Dispensation of Grace” that the law and its curses do not apply to us anymore? Most of us have been taught and thus believe that the Old Testament law was abolished at the cross? This belief is one of the most widely held misinterpretations of the scriptures within the Christian community today. Most Christians assume that this belief is at the root of what it means to be a part of a New Testament Church. If you have always assumed this, you are not alone. Millions of Christians live their lives with this teaching as a major part of their belief system, the belief system upon which we place our faith. Our faith can only be as strong and enduring as the belief's that it is based upon. Remember this bible verse? “The wise man built his house upon the rock”. (Mat 7: 24-27) In this analogy, the wise man's house is his faith and that he built his faith upon a rock solid belief in Jesus Christ. One based on the Word of God, which is embodied in Jesus Christ.

Then there are curses that can be passed down to us. Generational curses are very real and affect many unsuspecting souls. “The sins of the father” can carry a curse down through multiple generations and negatively affect many lives.

The belief that Jesus did away with the Old Testament laws of God simply is not biblical.

Those types of curses are not what we are talking about here. They can all be dealt with effectively with bible based spiritual warfare training. We are addressing the curses that are affecting millions of people, because of poor teachings

The purpose of this writing is to examine if the teaching, that Jesus did away with all of God's laws, except for the Ten Commandments, should be included in your personal core beliefs. Or is it depriving the

average church member of essential learning's that could make a dramatic impact on the quality and depth of all of ours walk IN Faith. Because what it confuses the most, is the premise that a Christian cannot be cursed by God. I maintain and teach that they can if living with unrepentant sin. Not understanding that curses are real and still prevalent today, is the result of this bad teaching. Without a correct understanding, many of us will not have the knowledge or the tools to deal with the spiritual problems and diseases that result from these, very real curses, when they occur. What the bible actually says is quite different than this modern day teaching and this misunderstanding has major ramifications to the believer and the unbeliever. The book of Galatians states it very clearly. Gal 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written……… Jesus came to abolish the Jewish religious and man-made law for Christians, but not God's laws unto righteousness. They are all still in effect. Especially if one is developing the type of faith that will enable them to endure these last days that are coming upon us. Jesus Christ, through the power of His Blood sacrifice, redeemed us from the curses associated with each of the 613 precepts of God's law in the Old Testament. Who did Jesus redeem? You and I, all truly born again Christians. Assuming you are a, born again and baptized, after the age you can make a choice for Jesus, that's biblical. Not simply christened as an infant. Next issue when we continue, we take a look at what the bible says. Continued next issue.....
