Home plays a significant role in shaping human identity. More than just a physical structure, a home serves as a space where experiences, memories, and emotions accumulated. The memories tied to one’s place of dwelling whether it is a childhood home or a new environment create a deep sense of attachment. Relocation or loss does not erase these memories rather than it enhances an individual’s identity. Meanwhile, a new e nvironment presents an opportunity to create new memories. In this context, architecture functions as a memory storage, offering spatial boundaries that foster comfort through the human experience of inhabiting a place, where meaning and a sense of belonging are formed.

Implementation

Context Reading

Indonesia’s New Capital

Expatriate workers have unique housing needs and preferences. Their success abroad largely depends on their ability to adapt. They often have a stronger sense of ownership over their apartments, as companies tend to provide or fund luxurious accommodations to support

Base Unit Purchased from Developer 45 sqm

Second Generation

Future users can build an expansion as they see fit and according to their ability until 180 sqm

Fenestration Exploration

Each different opening can evoke a unique quality of light, which in turn triggers different memories and emotions, as human memory and feelings. are often influenced by how a space is lit and experienced

Redefine The rules and Procedure Development Scenario

The connection with the architect involves an ongoing feedback loop between users and the system, where interactions with various components may inform iterative adjustments. Leveraging our technologies, we are able to construct innovative dwellings, with designs that continuously adapt to meet the evolving needs of contemporary living

The rising sea levels and sinking land due to the dense population in coastal areas have created conditions that are increasingly vulnerable to severe flooding. Uncontrolled human activities exacerbate this issue, causing sudden floods that destroy homes and vital infrastructure. This project aims to create emergency shelters that can be quickly assembled, providing a safe place for flood victims and facilitating a more effective emergency response in high-pressure situations.

Scenario

Site Issues

5.5 cm/year sea level rise, and 8 cm/year land subsidence

stench of the sea and pungent trash.

Poor water sanitation and road access

Lack of privacy in the evacuation area

Sustained recurrent tidal floods reaching 1.5 meters

Design Strategy

A fishing village with high activity intensity

Busy, panicked, fearful, smelly, and cold atmosphere.

Only one road access to the evacuation site

SEMARANG MUSIC SCHOOL

Music is Liquid Architecture, Architecture is Frozen Music

Level : Year 3 (2nd semester)

Award : 2nd Place Best Architecture Student Project, Copyright Certification From Ministry of Law and Human Right Project Type : academic (individual) Software Used : AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion

This project presents various findings on how music influences spatial and architectural forms, highlighting the ways in which the rhythms, melodies, and harmonies of music can be used to inform and shape the design of buildings. Architecture and music have been extensively discussed in relation to their interpretation, rules, and geometry. Looking at the fundamental understanding of both, it is clear that they are closely related to the arrangement that becomes a single work of art.

MUSIC GUIDE!!

Context

Macro Context:

Located in the city center due to the high number of street performers who work in the downtown area, making the site easily accessible.

Micro Context:

Situated in an educational district that includes institutions ranging from elementary schools to the Police Academy. However, there is currently no dedicated area for arts (music) education in Semarang.

Taking an approach based on children’s character. With the concept of freedom, which begins by analyzing children’s characteristics and behaviors, two main keywords are derived: the need for sensitivity and affordability in a child’s environment. These two keywords are further dissected to generate a concept of children’s freedom to explore both outer and inner spaces and enhance their interaction with nature. This concept of freedom is embodied and reflected in Playgroup, designed by applying three key principles: Infinity flow (a circulation flow that connects all spaces, maximizing children’s unrestricted movement), Dynamic-Circular Pattern (a circular-based shape that creates a sense of boundlessness), and Body of sense activating (ac- tivating the senses to enhance children’s sensory and motor skills).

Background Multisensory Design Approach

Bamboo Detail

Using a variety of natural materials to enhance their sensory sensitivity. By approaching through a multisensory system, it is expected that children can increase their sensitivity and interaction with nature. The use of grid patterns forms an interesting design, sparking curiosity within a child. The relationship between outdoor and indoor spaces is also considered, as creating an open building design is believed to effectively blend indoor and outdoor areas, allowing children greater freedom to explore space and interact with nature. Landscaping in the remaining land can also serve as an attraction as it can create a natural soundscape, enticing children to engage directly with nature

Community-based architecture is born from a deep understanding of the essence of a group, its culture, and unique way of life. This collective identity is translated into spatial forms that are not only functional but also rich in meaning. By exploring light as a medium, spaces are designed to shape atmospheres that awaken awareness, evoke calmness, and focus the user’s mind. Architecture becomes a living space, one that moves in harmony with the rhythm of human activity and emotion. Creating an experience that is profound, personal, and continuously evolving with its community.
