POWDER COATING PERFECTION! Powder coating is the technique of applying dry paint to a part to add protection.

Xtreme Powdercoating, based in Dalgety Bay, use the technique where the powdered paint is electrostatically charged and sprayed onto the item. The item is then placed in an oven where the powder particles melt and coalesce to form a continuous film.

Powdercoating is highly durable, scratch resistant, rust resistant and can protect your wheels for years to come. It is much more durable than wet paint, lasts a lot longer and is UV resistant. It has also been proven to be friendly to the environment.

The majority of the work performed by Xtreme Powdercoating is on alloy wheels of both cars and motorcylces. They don’t perform touch up but instead pride themselves on carrying out a full refurbishment.

It is true to say that the basis of any good coating is in the preparation. Before Powdercoating Xtreme first remove the wheels and tyres, then dip the wheels in a stripping solution, repairing any damage to the wheel and sand blasting in preparation for the coating process.

Once coated the wheels are then baked in an industrial oven to cure the powderpaint. When the powder has cured the tyres are refitted using new valves and wheels, balanced and refitted to the car.

Wheels can be painted to replicate the original manufacturer’s look or can be customised to the customer’s chosen colour of choice.

Although Xtreme specialise in wheel refurbishment they have a large oven and can accommodate anything up to 3.5 metres long. This is ideal for garden railing or gates, garden furniture and motorbike frames.

Review Your Security With A Password Manager Have you ever forgotten a password? It happens to everyone and having unique and secure passwords is important, especially if an online service suffers a data breach. If this happens, there is a risk that the interloper will discover your password and gain access to your account.

Passwords present an online dilemma. Every website you sign up to requires a password and for it to be secure, it needs to be complex.

The easy option is to keep every password the same and should it be compromised, all of your online accounts are in danger, particularly if your email address is the username. Having different passwords for all your accounts would overcome this but remembering all of these passwords is near impossible.

Password Manager applications combine two features that make them secure – firstly the ability to generate random and complex password strings and secondly the ability to automatically log the user into the website. All of these credentials are secured by what is known as a Master Password. The Master Password acts as a master key that unlocks all the other passwords. This password needs to be easy for you to remember, but at the same time hard for others to guess. Hardies Herald New Transport And Business Hub As New Housebuilding Continues Apace In Dunfermline New Queensferry Crossing already having positive impact on commercial and domestic property in the Kingdom Hardies Dunfermline office has heralded the opening of the new Queensferry Crossing as an opportunity to create a prime transport and business hub in East Central Scotland.

Paul Carr, an Associate at Hardies Dunfermline office, said he believed that the forthcoming investment announced late last year by DFDS Seaways and Forth Ports in the Rosyth Zeebrugge ferry route would bring new opportunities for Rosyth, Dunfermline and Dalgety Bay. “Fife is strategically placed to benefit from these new transport connections,” he said. “It looks like the new bridge will be completed sooner than scheduled, which is fantastic news.”

“It’s already having a positive effect on activity in the industrial sector with a 7000 sq ft warehouse property being let at Pitreavie Industrial Estate to a national telecommunications company, with the rental agreed at a comparatively strong

£6 per sq ft. The new bridge was cited as the key factor in the choice of location.”

Mr Carr also cited the importance of a strategic development site to the north of the established Mitchelston Industrial Estate in Kirkcaldy.

“It’s 79 acres, zoned for employment and industrial use and adjacent to the A92 trunk road – a very strong location. It has the potential to accommodate large strategic relocations as well as cope with the expansion of the existing industrial estate.”

“We are feeling positive about the next few months, and wait to see who takes this site.”

On the domestic front, Dunfermline continues to have a number of new private house building sites start in earnest bringing more homes to the Eastern Expansion area.

“People are buying and selling which is good news for the economy and this

particular sector, “ said Paul. Hardies is equally at home in the domestic sector.

Fiona McDonald Book Launch The Abbey and The Reluctant Bridegroom Back in 2013 we were very fortunate to meet up with Dalgety Bay novelist, Fiona McDonald, where she told us all about her two novels and her path to becoming a published author.

Fiona has now completed her third novel along with a short story, both of which have just been published by Troubador Publishing Ltd under the title “The Abbey” and “The Reluctant Bridegroom” - two very different, but equally entertaining stories.

Reflexology Ever fancied trying Reflexology but not quite sure how it works or if it would help you? Well hopefully this may help!

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a deeply relaxing nonintrusive complementary therapy which works by massage and gentle pressure points working across both feet.

Reflexology dates back thousands of years and is known to have been practised by the Chinese and Egyptians who believed the whole body could be mapped through pressure points and techniques using the feet. The main pioneer of Reflexology to Great Britain was the late Doreen Bayly who introduced the method in the late 1960's.

How does it work?

Reflexology works by applying a gentle pressure and massage to both feet which map the whole body for example, working on the right foot would correspond with the right hand side of the body and working on the left foot, this would correspond to the left side of the body. With the whole body being represented through the feet this therefore allows not only the symptoms to be treated but the actual cause of the symptoms to be addressed also.

What symptoms can it help with?

Through surveys carried out by The British Reflexology Association. Reflexology has been proven to assist with the following symptoms; Headaches, Migraines, Digestive issues, IBS, Back, Neck & Shoulder pain, 28

Oedema, Sinus congestion, Hormonal problems, Stress, Tension & Anxiety.

What happens during a treatment?

After removing shoes and socks, you will be made warm and comfortable on the treatment bed and the treatment will begin with a soothing warm up massage across both feet with the treatment itself commencing on the right foot. During the treatment I will take notes of any findings and discuss them with you at the end of your treatment. Reflexology should never cause you any pain or discomfort and all my Reflexology clients would agree that it is a deeply relaxing therapy which promotes a natural feeling of well-being.

How long does the treatment take?

Please allow one hour for your treatment which will include a strictly confidential short consultation on your first visit to ensure you receive the full benefit of your treatment. After your treatment is complete, you will be given a glass of water whilst we discuss your homecare advice.

Dalgety Bay Bike Festival This years Dalgety Bay Bike Festival organised by Cycling Dalgety Bay, will be held at the towns sailing club on Saturday 27nd August 2016 from 12-4pm. In keeping with previous years it will offer a variety of rides and activities for all ages and abilities.

Sole to Soul Foot Clinic Sunshine and Moles I thought, that since the big yellow thing in the sky is making an appearance and many of us are heading to hotter climates over the next few months, now would be a good time to write up some information about the effect of the sun on moles.

Moles come in all shapes and sizes, the moles I’m referring to are the ones that appear on your skin, not these little fellas…..

The Where and Why of Moles

Check Your Moles

Moles can appear anywhere on the body and can be raised or flat and most are round, oval or slightly square. They can be rough or smooth and generally have a smooth even edge and some even have hair growing from them. Did you know that people can be born with moles? Moles generally appear by the time you reach age 30. If you have fair skin, you are prone to having more moles than someone with darker skin.

You may see changes in moles during different stages of your life. They can change for many reasons, including hormonal changes during teenage years, pregnancy and during older age. Some may become more obvious whilst others may disappear altogether.

Have you ever wondered why some people have lots of moles and others don’t? This is most likely down to genetics, but can also be down to the country you were born, the climate where you live and lifestyle i.e. holidays in hot countries. Most moles are completely harmless and unless they bother you, for instance, catch on clothing, unsightly or are problematic when shaving, then they should left well alone.

It’s a great idea to get in the habit of checking over all of your moles every so often, maybe every couple of months. That way you’ll notice if there are any new moles or changes to existing moles.

Things to look for include:

Uneven colouring they should have a maximum of 2 colours Bleeding and Itching Irregular around the edges the should be smooth Has it grown in diameter larger than the rubber on a pencil

Some important changes to look out for are the A B C D E of moles; this makes it easy to remember.

A - Asymmetry - the two halves of the

area may differ in shape

B - Border - is it irregular?

C - Colour - is there more than two

colours?

D - Diameter - is it larger than 6mm?

E - Elevation - Evolving - is it changing?

Do you have moles on your feet?

How many moles do you have on your feet?

I bet you don’t even know if you have any.

Not many people pay any attention to moles on the feet, even though, when throughout the holiday season they are often in flip flops or sandals. Most people tend to use sun cream on the tops of their feet, but can you truthfully say, you put cream on the soles of your feet? You may be thinking to yourself that this is a silly thing to suggest, however, if you do have moles on the soles of your feet, you need to protect them from the sun.

This is especially true if you are sunbathing lying on your front which most of us do at some point.

Moles can also grow under toenails, this is however very rare but definitely worth knowing. These moles, won’t necessarily look like the usual type of mole. They can appear as a thin or thick line going through the nail from the base to the tip. Here’s an example:
