The SI3000 MCS middleware is the intelligence inside the IPTV architecture. Middleware components interact with all the components in the multimedia delivery network to support and control the content flow from the time the content enters the IPTV system to the point where it is received by the consumed by the subscriber.

Real-time encoding The SI3000 Multimedia Carrier multi-service streaming platform encodes, transcodes, transrates and recasts all currently interesting formats for fixed and mobile video applications, including MPEG-4 (H.264) and VC-1. The platform integrates most of the encoding/streaming technologies in a box solution type, which adopts carrier standards regarding stream quality, redundancy and flexibility.

SI3000 MCS middleware architecture options The SI3000 MCS middleware solution offers three different architectural options that fulfill the IPTV service requirements. They allow service operators to deploy an IPTV service that provides a best-fit for today and growth for the future.

Offline encoding and content editing The offline encoding system transforms various content formats from different sources into a format compatible with other solution components. The system is server based, equipped with capture cards and edit-and-cut applications for modifying the content. The system is connected with the archiving system to store the transcoded content, where it is available for distribution to VoD servers.
