IT’S SO EASY! Simply browse this specially-designed interactive catalog and make your selections. When you’re ready to check out, simply go to our Chillermania Book Fair online store and pay by credit card. For every five books purchased through the book fair, your school receives 1 free book! For instance, if 100 books are purchased collectively through your school’s book fair, your school receives 20 books of their choice!At the conclusion of the book fair, all books will be shipped to your child’s school with a printed receipt accompanying each order. This costs nothing for your school, there is no setup required, no volunteers needed, and each order includes FREE cool stuff not available anywhere else: a 4” x 6” sticker, temporary tattoo, bookmark, and a trading card for each book purchased AT NO ADDITIONAL COST.

Q: About how long will it take to receive my books?
A:Orders are processed 24 - 48 hours after your school book fair closes and ship as soon they are inspected and packaged. Most orders arrive at your school the week after the book fair concludes.
Q: Are the books shipped to my house?
A: No. All books are shipped to your school; your order will arrive with a printed order form to separate your order from others.
Q: How come there are no special discounts like other book fairs?
A: Quite simply, we aren’t like most other book fairs. Everything we offer is book-related (no trinkets, no video games, no toys, etc.) and are priced at (or below) what you’ll find on most store shelves. Additionally, we include popular ‘extras’ such as stickers, temporary tattoos, trading cards, and bookmarks. There are no additional costs associated with these, and are provided exclusively by AudioCraft Publishing, Inc., through the Chillermania Book Fair. Our books are top quality: printed, bound, and manufactured right here in the US.

A: Unfortunately, there is no cure for this.

Q: Where and when were you born?
A: Pontiac, Michigan, November 24, 1964.
Q: Do you have any siblings?
A: I have a sister. I sold her to the circus many years ago. She escaped, and now lives in California.
Q: When did you begin writing?
A: I’ve always enjoyed writing, and I wrote a lot of stories all through school. When I was 18, I landed a job at WQON radio in Grayling, Michigan, and one of my duties (besides being an on-air personality) was to write and produce radio commercials. I LOVED it! I turned my radio commercials into stories. I once made a radio commercial about a bigfoot creature going into a bank to open a checking account.
Q: What was your favorite book growing up?
A: That would be hard to narrow down, but a few of them would be Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl, The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster, and My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George. Along with anything scary!
Q: When did you know you wanted to be an author?
A: Not until much later in life. I’ve always loved to write, but I never really thought about pursuing a career as an author. But I’ve always loved to read, and I think that had a lot to do with me deciding to write a book. I loved it, and I still do.
Q: Does your wife help you write books?
A: Yes, sort of. While I come up with the ideas and write the story, she is usually the first to read it and offer feedback. Or, while I’m working on a story, I might share a little bit with her if I’m looking for a fresh perspective. It can be very helpful to have someone else take a look at your work, especially if you seem to be stuck at a certain part.
Q: Do you have any pets?
A: Yes! Right now, we have two dogs. Brody is a black labrador/mastiff mix, and Jellybean is a French Mastiff/Staffordshire Terrier mix. We adopted both from AuSable Valley Animal Shelter in Grayling, where my wife (Mrs. Chillers!) and I have been longtime volunteers.
Q: Do you believe in ghosts?
A: Hmmmm. Well, I can’t say I’ve ever seen any. I’ve visited places that are supposed to be haunted, and, while the places are often very cool and spooky, I haven’t really experienced anything that I could positvely identify as a ghost. But I’m always on the lookout!

It’s been said that ‘necessity is the mother of invention,’and while Johnathan Rand didn’t necessarily ‘invent’ Chillermania, it certainly came about by necessity…with vision, dedication, and a lot of hard work.
“The first book in the Michigan Chillers series was released in March of 2000,” Rand says, “and by 2004, we were having major growing pains. I figured that if we were going to build bigger warehouses and a corporate headquarters, we might as well have a small retail store, a place where we could host special events and welcome visitors.”
The solution was only a few miles from home, just north of the village of Indian River.
“Charles Stoyka had a small used car dealership on Old US-27. The location was great, and the buildings were exactly what I was looking for. Chuck was looking to semiretire, and we worked out a deal to purchase his property. It took some major renovation and the construction of another warehouse, but we finally completed the work and opened Chillermania in fall of 2005. Since then, thousands and thousands of visitors have stopped in. It’s been a riot, and I think it gets more and more fun with each passing year.”
During the summer months, Chillermania is open 7 days a week. Johnathan Rand is at the store often, so you just might have the opportunity to rub elbows and chat about a few things that go bump in the night.
