JERZY B. GAJEWSKI, MD

Dear Members, Colleagues and Friends: We have just concluded a very successful section meeting in Saratoga Springs. This is thanks to Dr. Zahi Makhuli and Dr. Gennady Bratslavsky who organised a very interesting and comprehensive scientific meeting combined with very exciting social events. I am sure that all members greatly appreciate their dedication and hard work to put this meeting together. We will do our best to match these standards at the 67th Annual Meeting to be held in Amelia Island, Florida on November 13-16, 2014. The planning of the meeting is well underway. We welcome and greatly appreciate the help from Northeastern Section staff Leslie Hettenbach, Kristin Pichon, Theresa Rawlings and Drew Shifflet. The Scientific Committee Chair, Dr. Ricardo Rendon, is a native of Colombia. He completed medical school and residency at the Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia and two years Research and Clinical Fellowship in Urologic Oncology at University of Toronto. An accomplished urologist, he is presently on staff with the Department of Urology at Dalhousie University in Halifax. He will undoubtedly work hard to assemble a superior scientific program. Amelia Island welcomes everybody. The Ritz-Carlton Hotel’s facilities are perfect to hold this meeting. The accommodations are elegant and the resort provides guests with an unforgettable escape. The resort is located on a grand stretch of the island’s 13 miles of pristine beach. There will be ample opportunities to explore a world of beautiful beaches and outdoor activities. Amelia Island has a very rich and compelling history. The eight flags flown over the island include those from: France, Spain (many periods), England (the Patriots of Amelia Island), the Green Cross (raised by a self-proclaimed ruler), Mexico (the Mexican Rebel flag), the Confederate States of America, and the United States. The French visited, the Spanish developed, the English named, the Americans tamed and pirates made it intriguing. My wife Lidia and I would like to invite all of you to come to Amelia Island and enjoy our next section meeting in comfort and worldclass-luxury.
