Different types of Hazmat Suits

The Hazmat suits are suits which prevent the wearer from contacting harmful substances with which they operate. They are short for harmful materials. Hazmat suits are complete suits with other protective clothes, such as lingoes, gloves, shoes and masks of breathing. There are various classifications with a different degree of protection for hazmat suits.

The levels vary between A and D and protect against various substances.

Level A The most protective suits on the market are level A Hazmat suits. They provide maximum breathing, skin and eye protection. Gases, vapors and small airborne particles are stored. These suits are very complex because they are pressurized and they have full face independent breathing devices (SCBA). The suit itself must be chemically safe and completely encapsulated. It has to contain chemical-resistant inner and outer gloves and chemical resistant steel toe boots.

Depending on the application, coverings, long underwear and a tough cap below the suit are optional.

Level B

The suits are a little less protective with Level B hazmat. They need the highest degree of respiration protection, but skin protection is not as high. The same sCBA, pressure and numerous components, including chemical resistant gloves, boots and body suit, must also be present.

Level C The Hazmat suits for level C are only one step down. Their resistance against aerial substances is known and regarded as less threatening to the concentrations and types of those substances than to scenarios requiring protection at levels A and B. The hazmat suits for level C require masks with air purifier and a lot of the same garments as levels A and B. Levels A and B. Covers, hard hats, boots and face shields are optional if they are required by the situation. More facilities are generally safer than less.

Level D Level D suits are minimum suits. Their contamination is considered "nuisance" and does not require the same type of respiratory apparatus or chemical protection as other levels. These suits usually come in many of the same parts but feature a material of lower quality.

It is crucial to worker safety that we have the right hazmat suit for the job, but the suit is so. Safe removal of the hazmat fittings is of enormous importance, since the removal of the substance by workers is the greatest risk of contact. All protective gear must be removed, without touching the outside of the clothing from head to toe. This should be done in solitary confinement and removed completely before leaving the insulation zone.
