FRIDAY CATTLE SEMINAR PANEL Austin Rohr
Austin and his wife, Taylor, established Rolling Horns Ranch in 2015 and have quickly built their herd with outstanding pedigree, horn, and conformation. He and his family enjoy the ranching life in Tyler, Texas. They also love to show off their Longhorn cattle to family and friends.
Scott Hughes
Scott and his wife, Sandy, own White Pines Ranch and have been involved in the cattle business for 30 years. They were hooked on Longhorns because of the variety of horn, color, and size. Scott is a member of the Carolina Cartel and lives in Rutherford, North Carolina. He likes cows with adequate horn and superior maternal instincts.
Tracy Jones
Tracy is part of the team that makes up Hoosier Longhorns located in Indiana. He and his family have built a program centered on quality genetics. Raising Longhorns started with a need for healthy red meat, but being raised on a love for things of the old west, it quickly turned into a passion for an animal that is unique in every aspect.
Mike Willinger
Mike Willinger grew up in the registered seed stock business with Angus cattle that was part of his family for 72 years. Mike has an Animal Science and Ag Economics degree from Western Kentucky University. He has been married to his wife, Paula, for the last 28 years, and they have two children – Tyler, 23, and Sarah, 21. Mike has been employed by Hudson Longhorns for more than nine years, where he manages their breeding program and the herd.
David Mills
David and his wife, Linda, own Legend Valley Ranch, located in Spicewood and Richland Springs, Texas. They purchased their first Longhorn by keeping a promise to their daughter. They have built up their herd based on pedigree, horn, and color.

Judy & Bill Meridith - Tallgrass Cattle Co.
Bill and Judy Meridith are the owners of Tallgrass Cattle Company in Wellington, Kansas, where they maintain a select herd of Longhorn cattle. They have acquired some of the industry’s most elite cattle, including the record-setting purchases at the Legacy Sale of 3S Danica, EOT Outback Beauty, and SDR Candy Cane. In addition to Texas Longhorns, the Meridiths have various other successful business interests. Among their proudest is the building of the Christian school WCA. Bill and Judy look forward to another year of success within and outside of the Longhorn Industry. Fun Facts – “Our favorite hobby is watching baby calves in the spring. We enjoy spending family time in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Our favorite charity is the Wellington Christian Academy, a 15-year-old school started with four students and grown to more than 100.”

The Helm family were introduced to Texas Longhorn cattle through a unique property/cattle purchase. The minute the Texas Longhorn babies hit the ground, they were forever hooked. Today, they take much pride in having the opportunity to positively effect the future of the Texas Longhorn breed by breeding the best today for tomorrow’s greater. They seek and identify with the higher goals of their fellow breeders to put the best cattle possible on the ground. They are not content with the average, but they are contending for the exceptional. They are blessed and thankful for the Texas Longhorn! Fun Facts – “Our favorite hobbies are music and Longhorns. Ricky McLeod – Home Branch Ranch
Ricky is president of Piggly Wiggly Central, Inc. He and his family own 13 grocery stores – a complete family-owned business. Ricky’s father started the business in the 1950’s. Ricky also owns three Mac’s Place, Spirit and Liquor stores. He decided to open the first one because he had an empty building and it grew from there. Ricky’s other business is a restaurant named after his Grandmother, “Willie Sue’s”. He opened the business three years ago. It features a wood fire grill that serves steaks, seafood, ribs, and chicken. Fun Facts – “My favorite hobby used to be playing golf, but now it’s playing with my Longhorns. I have a place at the beach that I love to go to, but my real favorite vacation is going to all the Longhorn consignment sales. I enjoy giving to several local churches, elementary schools, and Christian charities that help the people who really have nothing.”
Dan & Tracy Jones – Hoosier Longhorns
Hoosier Longhorns is made up of four brothers and a sister, and each of them doing their part to raise quality Texas Longhorns. Raising Longhorns started with a need for healthy red meat, but being raised on a love for things of the old west, it quickly turned into a passion for an animal that is unique in every aspect. Calving season, for them, is like the pleasure an artist feels after creating a painting. The joy of the Texas Longhorn is not in selling it, but in the time spent raising, caring for, and getting to know each animal and their wonderfully created offspring. When they sell a Longhorn, and know that the new owner will love it as much as they have, that completes the circle! Fun Facts – “Dan and I are both on the same page, our favorite hobbies are hunting and Texas Longhorns. Our favorite vacation spot is the South Dakota Black Hills. We help support several missionaries for charities.”
Tyson Leonard – Leonard Farms
Tyson Leonard is a retired entrepreneur and innovator in the storage building and truck accessory business. He got into the Longhorn business in 1991 after winning a card game. He became heavily involved within the industry, even starting the popular Blue Ridge Breeders Production Sale that was very successful for years. Fun Facts – “I enjoy high stakes gambling. My favorite charity is the American Cancer Society.”
Carly & Brian Varner - Longhorn Creek Ranch
Our 2018 Sponsors Brian and Carly established the ranch in Topeka, Kansas in 2013. They started small with five Longhorns and are steadily growing their foundation. The breeding program is focused on horn, color, disposition, and fertility. They are utilizing one of the best bulls in the breed, CV Cowboy Casanova, as well as Archer Texa, Hubbells 20 Gauge, and Spur Texa. Their two young cowboys, Westin and Camden, enjoy working with cattle day and night as well, making it a family pastime. Fun Facts – “Our favorite hobby is working with the cattle and sitting in the tractor after the daily grind at work. We love to take cruises to the Caribbean. Tytan & Scott Pace - Pace Cattle Co.
The Pace family began raising Longhorns in 1996 in Utah and haven’t looked back since. Their program’s success has been mostly based on Gunman genetics. They strive to obtain predictable genetics with their herd sire PCC Rim Rock. Exceptional animals of careful breeding are used to produce the size, color, and horn that defines Pace Cattle Co. Fun Facts – “We enjoy Longhorns, basketball, and volleyball. Our vacations include cattle sales, but we love Florida, Puerto Rico, and Flaming Gorge. Some of the charities we support are LDS church humanitarian efforts, doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation, and Utah African Refugee Daycare.”
Carrie & Tucker Hilbert - Rockin Hil Ranch
The Hilbert family has been raising Longhorns in Bennington, Kansas, for three years. After purchasing their land, Carrie and Tucker agreed on raising Longhorns simply because of the beauty. Although considered new to the business, the Hilberts are quickly acquiring a herd of quality cattle with great genetics. Carrie and Tucker’s three children enjoy and help raise the Longhorns. Fun Facts – “We enjoy the outdoors and spending time with family. Our favorite vacation destination is Stockton Lake in Missouri – boating, fishing, and relaxing. Our favorite charity is our local church. Faith and church is a big part of our lives, and we really enjoy being a part of our community.”
Taylor & Austin Rohr - Rolling Horns Ranch/Superior Firearms
Austin and Taylor Rohr established Rolling Horns Ranch in 2015 in Tyler, Texas. They started their ranch with 10 black Angus and two Longhorns, but every day the Angus were still black. The Longhorns on the other hand were growing horns like crazy, and their colors were changing throughout the year. They changed their entire program to focus on quality Registered Texas Longhorns with exceptional breeding. Their herd sire, Big Red HR, is making waves in the industry, and they have a leading foundation of females. The Rohr kids are also getting involved with the cattle. Austin and Taylor own Superior Firearms, a fullservice gun shop, that was started in 2016. Fun Facts – “We love traveling with the family and spending time with our Longhorns. When we vacation, our time is mostly spent in the Caribbean. Our favorite charity is the Boot Campaign, which provides life-improving programs for veterans and military families nationwide.”
Dora Thompson - Sand Hills Ranch
Dora got into registered Texas Longhorns by accident. She moved from Shreveport to Mansfield, Louisiana, after being in the Homebuilding business, apartments, and convenience stores for 23 years. She married a cowboy that was raising Longhorns and after checking them every evening and penning some early mornings, she knew why. She fell in love with how smart, beautiful, and entertaining Longhorns are. She began breeding for horn and has been enjoying “breeding up” for more than 16 years. Fun Facts – “I used to enjoy riding, but most of my time is spent with my Longhorns. My favorite vacation spot is the Grand Cayman. I support charities that give to disabled veterans.”
Suzanne & Bill Torkildsen – Bull Creek Longhorns
The Torkildsens have been raising registered Texas Longhorns since 2004 with a focus on breeding to build a unique herd that will contribute to a great new generation of cattle. Their primary goal is to produce a Longhorn cow that is productive and structurally correct. Their cows, which come from a variety of well-known, high-quality, proven livestock, must have smooth attractive bodies, pretty faces, long horns, variety of color, and the ability to maintain weight on nature’s grasses. They utilize mostly natural breeding and have four-six herd sires they rotate through annually, but they also do AI and IN-Vitro as a means to get exciting new pedigrees introduced into their herd. Fun Facts – “Our favorite vacation is going out our front door every day. We feel so blessed to be able to live on our ranch surrounded by all of God’s creations. Bill and I love to ride our horses, hang out with our four kids and our two beautiful granddaughters, attend church and bible study. We enjoy planning future breedings for our cattle. We both love anything that is outside. Donating to our church, veterans and children’s charities are our favorite ways of giving.”

The Portland Life Center is a 501c3 non-profit located in the west side of Louisville, Kentucky, in the Portland neighborhood. With over 6,300 homeless people and an opioid crisis that is out of control, the west side of Louisville is a community in great need. The Portland Life Center is a ministry with a focus on helping the most vulnerable of our community. We feed the hungry, operate a large thrift store, give clothing to those in need and build relationships with drug addicts. Once we earn their trust, we help get them into a good rehab program. We are in the process of refurbishing an old building that will serve as a center for the ministry where we plan on having a cafe/coffee shop with free food for the hungry, provide showers, laundry facilities and have a nice large meeting room to hold church services and recovery meetings. We also plan on providing drug intervention counseling, a job placement service, and a place to acquire an I.D. We also hope to be able to provide professional services for the mentally ill. While success is difficult to realize, we now have stories of people beating addictions, working jobs, raising families, and now being productive citizens. Terms & Conditions Bidding: Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. The consignor may set a reserve bid or bid on the animal themselves. Bidding Disputes: The auctioneer in charge will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision on such matters shall be final. Terms: Terms of the sale are cash or check to the clerk at the conclusion of the sale. Checks are made payable to the Hudson-Valentine Sale. Possession: Immediately after the animal is sold, it will be the sole risk and responsibility of the buyer thereof, but possession cannot be obtained until payment is made. Certification: A certificate of registration will be furnished and transferred to the purchaser on each lot in the sale, exclusive of calves at side. Please provide name, address and the association of your choice when checking out. Health: All animals are eligible for interstate shipment except as otherwise noted. The cattle have been tested for tuberculosis, Bangs disease and Johnes within 30 days of the sale date. A health certificate will be furnished. Guarantee: All Breeders Guarantees are strictly between the individual consignor and the purchaser at the sale. All calves are given to the purchaser free and with no guarantees. The purchaser must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made hereunder. Pedigrees: The seller has furnished the information on the pedigrees of the animals announced. Announcements: Announcements from the auction block take precedence over printed matter in this catalog. All cattle will be sold by lot-numbers, as announced by the auctioneer. Liability: All persons who attend this sale do so at their own risk. Hudson nor Valentine (Texas Longhorn Enterprises) nor their representatives nor River Ranch Stockyards nor Bruce McCarty Promotions and anyone else connected with the sale assumes no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accident or loss of life that may occur. Contract: The above terms and guarantees shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller of each animal sold. Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as it is sold, but will not be delivered until a settlement is made.
