Did you know that our skis are handmade in Austria and we are considered as the greenest ski factory in the world? And that the heating comes solely from biomass, and the electrical power consumption of the plant has been 100% renewable for many years? The main factory in Altenmarkt, Austria is the place of work for 700 experts, who work tirelessly day after day to make Atomic skis better and better using new materials and clever innovations. And even though Atomic skis are true high-tech products today, one detail has never changed since 1955: every ski is hand crafted with the greatest of care. To keep the winters white Atomic and Amer Winter Sports – Atomic belongs to the Amer Sports Group – put great focus on a sustainable factory setup in Altenmarkt. Over the past few years, Amer Sports Operations has invested 1.9 million euros in environmental and ecologically sustainable measures.

As a recognition Amer Winter Sports received the “Phönix 2014” waste management award. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (BMLFUW) and the Austrian Water and Waste Management Association (ÖWAV) present this award to companies that are particularly innovative in the area of environmental protection and ecology.

Atomic is introducing an all-new cross-country skate ski for the 2021/2022 season: the Redster S9 Gen S. In the process, Atomic is totally reimagining ski construction and design for the skate discipline. To compliment this new construction, Atomic is also introducing the new adjustable Prolink Shift-In binding.

Each ski core is prefabricated, additional layers and the design overlay are positioned by hand into the ski press. Every ski is machine-calibrated and printed with the precise weight specification. Let’s have a look at the different steps in detail: Raw materials During the preparation of raw materials, each Nomex core, each base and structural laminate is precision-cut into its exact, specified length. Graphics The outer top sheet where the graphic is applied is given the same level of attention with hand-mixed colors.

Ski press Then the core, additional layers and top sheet are taken to the ski press where one technician exactly arranges by hand each layer to the precision of tenths of millimeter. After intense pressure, the ski emerges and undergoes the next round of specification checks. Grinding Only when it passes these checks will it be transformed into a race model where the sidewalls are trimmed, excesses removed, and the base grinded and polished.

Final evaluation – YOUR SKI. For each cross country model, there are exact specifications, depending on the intended use and snow conditions. During ski measuring, 15 different parameters are digitally tested and analyzed through a complex computer software that precisely pairs the skis together to become a unique Redster pair.

SKI TECHNOLOGY

NOMEX An ultra-lightweight material originally used in aerospace. It’s structured like a honeycomb for strength, resilience and liveliness. We also use it in combination with Densolite. Nomex Cores: Featherlight Race, Featherlight, SDS Featherlight

DENSOLITE Light, stable and tough. Densolite is produced in Atomic’s own facilities and comes in three variations: Densolite, High Densolite and Ultra High Densolite. They’re all equally tough, but the High and Ultra High versions are lighter and more dynamic. This is the special ski construction that gives our top Classic and Skate Race skis that extra bit of power. In our Redster Carbon Classic, the carbon chassis runs the length of the ski (except the tip) making it very light and dynamic for extreme acceleration. In the Redster Carbon S9 the carbon chassis runs the whole length of the ski, making the ski lighter and stronger, offering more direct power transmission for fast, dynamic gliding.

SIDEWALLS

Putting a sidewall on a cross-country ski helps with steering and power transmission. We have two different sidewalls that feature on our highperformance Redster skis:

For skating you need more ankle stability without restricting the foot, which is why we offer our skating boots with a Split Cuff and 360° Velcro Closing. Our Skate boots offer a stiffer outsole for better power transmission. For classic skiing, a softer outsole and a lower-cut are needed in order to glide with comfort and ski with precision.

A new addition to our WC Skate and Classic boots – heat it up with a simple dryer to create a completely personalized liner in a matter of minutes.

This heel strap lets you adjust the heel of your boot, so it always fits firmly against your foot.

Our Prolink boots work perfectly with 2-rail bindings and provide an exceptional snow feel and direct sensation.

This all-carbon heel counter provides optimum support and awesome power transmission to the ski.

A 3D chassis made of extra rigid carbon. It works like a joint when moving forward but provides perfect lateral stability when skating.

Our Rotative Sport Cuff keeps your ankle firmly stabilized for a stronger push. It also provides a supportive feel that makes skiing more pleasant – especially skating.

SPLIT CUFF WITH 360° CLOSING

Our innovative split cuff features two separate arms that move independently, connected with soft EVA material. This means they can match the movement, roll and anatomy of your foot and offer more freedom of movement than any other boot. Then 360° Velcro provides a perfect closure. The Split Cuff is made from two materials: PVC for stability and soft EVA to protect your shin from rubbing or bruising.

Atomic starts producing Nordic skis, adding to the extensive line of Alpine skis.

1955

German athlete Tobias Angerer wins the Overall Worldcup title. In the next year, he defends the title and dominates the Tour de Ski.

2003

2006

Swedish athlete Oskar Svärd wins the legendary Vasaloppet in Sweden on Atomic skis. Two more victories in 2005 and 2007 follow.

Atomic is founded by Alois Rohrmoser in the province of Salzburg, Austria.

Italian Giorgio Di Centa and Russian Michail Botwinow (starting for Austria) win gold and bronce in the Olympic 50k race in Turino.

The Pyeongchang Olympic Games 2018 are a blast for Simen Hegstad Krueger and Redster skis. He walks away with 2 Gold medals and one silver medal.

German Claudia Nystad takes Gold in the Olympics team sprint in Vancouver sharing the podium with Swedish Anna Haag taking the silver medal.

Norwegian World Champion Tord Asle Gjerdalen wins the legendary Marcialonga Race in Val di Fiemme two times in a row (2014 & 2015 ). 44
