FROM WORK TO PLAY: Life In The Poconos the United States and around the world. “We have a loyal following of customers who keep in touch with us,” Claudia Hess said, “through our website and through the shops that carry our Liztech Jewelry.” After Jill Elizabeth and Evelyn Miller create the initial design for the sixteen new designs Liztech releases each year, Claudia Hess then takes those new designs and creates a recipe for each new piece. That hand-written recipe is a detailed, how-to-assemble pattern plan, step-by-step for each piece. Jill said, “and sometimes Claudia has to tell me that my new design just cannot be efficiently made, so then we start over.” Today, Liztech offers about 100 individual designs of their pins and cuff bracelets, in numerous colors, so the total available inventory is about 1,500 items, which are available wholesale to a large list of jewelry store customers around the world, and at retail at the Gallery at Liztech. “We retire pins and cuffs on a regular basis,” Jill said, “often because we have exhausted our supply of the stone that’s integral to the design, or because we purposely create some designs as a limited production run and we retire them when they are sold out. Often, those about-to-be retired pieces are the reason some of our loyal customers sleep in lawn chairs on the sidewalk the night before our annual sale.” Jill Elizabeth smiles when she talks about the length of time her team has worked with her. Claudia Hess has been working with Jill for twenty-five years and there are several members of the team with fifteen to twenty years’ experience hand crafting Jill’s meticulous designs. “We are fuss pots.” Jill said, “because this is fuss potty work.” Jill concluded, “Liztech is a place that takes great pride in what we produce. Here we are in 2016 and everything we make and sell is made in America, not in an Asian factory. Our team loves what they do.
