The Liquid Face Lift

{

By Thomas C. Balshi, MD

During the anti-aging and wellness revolution, ultramodern aesthetic techniques have evolved to restore youth and vibrancy back for millions of people, without surgery. In fact, gentle face lifting and volume restoration can be obtained painlessly for some patients in less than 45 minutes and without general anesthesia or IV sedation. Several factors cause aging of the face. The loss of elastic tissue and collagen causes the skin to sag. Environmental damage and UV light often cause age spots and wrinkles. The most significant culprit to age the face is loss of volume. Atrophy (loss of that plump baby fat) develops in the nasolabial folds, lips and lower face. The hollow below the eyes grows deeper and the plumpness of ear lobes diminishes as we age. Some of the facial muscles lose their volume and even cheek bones undergo resorption.

A “liquid face lift” is a non surgical procedure which involves the use of cosmetic fillers (Restylane, Juvederm, Sculptra, Radiesse and others) and Botox to restore volume thus rejuvenating the face. The safest preferable fillers are of the hyaluronic acid family. The molecule is a sugar-based gel that naturally supports the cells in skin; it is the major component in the fluids that lubricate joints. These “injectables” are placed under the skin to instantly restore skin volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, adding and restoring the natural contour of the cheeks and even re-plumping the lips and ear lobes. These injectables look and feel totally natural. Everyone will notice, but no one will know. Results from liquid face lift procedures are usually gradual and can range from subtle to astonishing. Patients may return to most normal activities almost immediately. A liquid face lift procedure is tailored to each individual, so pricing depends upon a number of factors, including the extent of loss of collagen, skin laxity, skin damage, color and thickness, individual health and goals. This enables your dermatologist to make your personal renaissance as unique and special as you are, and as comfortable and rewarding as possible. Thomas C. Balshi, M.D., P.A.
