Joie de Vivre Experienced by All at This Year’s Spring Benefit

Chair Lynn-Anne Huck Chair-Elect Marcelle Decuir

By Kathryn Banks, Development Staff The sights and sounds of a Paris theatre were everywhere at the 2010 Spring Benefit: Passage to France, which took place on Saturday, April 17. The annual black-tie gala, organized by the Development Office and headed by parent volunteers, included a lively silent auction and cocktail reception followed by a seated dinner featuring French cuisine and exciting live auction. The unique decor, with the theme of “backstage at a Parisian theatre” in the ballroom, paid homage to a country with a long and rich history. The Spring Benefit started in the late 1980’s to support AIS’s mission of providing the increasingly global Atlanta community with an outstanding independent school. All proceeds from this benefit contribute towards financial aid scholarships, faculty development programs and continued preservation of the historic campus buildings. Chaired by Lynn-Anne Huck, this year’s Spring Benefit was a sold-out event attended by over 500 of the school’s community. The honorary chairs of this year’s Benefit were longtime friends of Atlanta International School, Anne Cox Chambers and Gerry Hull. Mrs. Chambers grew up in a house on Sheridan Road, just down the street from the AIS campus.
