2023 ANNUAL REPORT

Nurturing Our Neighborhoods

In a year of significant progress, our dedication to nurturing neighborhoods shines as the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership (ABP) continues to bring the loop to life. Whether it’s by activating parks and trails to help Atlantans live healthier lifestyles, deepening our commitment to legacy residents, or supporting the creation of abundant greenspaces rich with culture and connection — we’re steadfast in our work creating pathways for equitable access to opportunities and resources around our beloved 22-mile corridor.

From Our Leadership

As we reflect on the remarkable journey of the Atlanta BeltLine, one thing is clear: 2023 was a year of pivotal growth. We’re pleased to announce that trail completion is on track under the leadership of our partners at Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. with the PATH Foundation. We celebrated three groundbreaking ceremonies and ribbon-cutting events marking monumental milestones in 2023 alone. By the close of 2024, an impressive 85% of the 22-mile mainline trail will either be completed or underway, solidifying our commitment to connectivity and accessibility throughout our city.

None of this progress would have been possible without the unwavering support of our philanthropic partners. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation and the James M. Cox Foundation, whose generous contributions have been instrumental in driving the BeltLine forward. Their belief in our mission has not only fueled our momentum but has also inspired others to join us.

At the heart of that mission lies a dedication to ensuring every resident from every background can benefit from the vast possibilities that spring from the BeltLine’s continual growth. In line with this commitment, we have doubled our efforts to support legacy residents, providing essential resources and assistance to help them stay rooted in their communities.

By fostering a sense of belonging and continuity, we aim to preserve the vibrancy and diversity of the Atlanta BeltLine for generations to come.

Thank you for supporting our shared vision to shape the BeltLine into a thriving cultural hub for our residents. Together, we are creating a brighter future for all who call our neighborhoods home.

ATLANTA BELTLINE PARTNERSHIP MISSION

To fulfill, protect, and preserve the Atlanta BeltLine vision by raising funds and building partnerships that enable the Atlanta BeltLine project, engage the public, and empower residents in surrounding neighborhoods.

Enable

Philanthropic investments made through the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership help fuel the development of BeltLine trails and parks. They also bring to life innovative initiatives and signature projects led by our partners at Atlanta BeltLine, Inc., including the creation of affordable commercial space for small businesses, art installations and performances, and digital inclusion. Together, these investments enable the BeltLine to grow and flourish sustainably and equitably.

ADVOCACY IN ACTION

In collaboration with 13 eco-focused nonprofits serving on the Mayor’s Greenspace Advisory Council, ABP helps the city deliver on the goals identified in the Activate ATL parks and recreation master plan. Our advocacy helped secure an additional $16 million annually to maintain parks and trails when City Council doubled the Park Improvement Fund in June. $16M

Empower

High economic inequality and low upward mobility create a challenging landscape for many Atlanta BeltLine residents. Our initiatives harness the economic potential stimulated by the Atlanta BeltLine, providing crucial access to resources that uplift residents so they can break through these socioeconomic barriers and achieve lasting stability.

Protecting Legacy Residents

For the second consecutive year, we grew participation by more than 100% in our Legacy Resident Retention Program—the largest anti-displacement program in Atlanta. Through this program more than 220 Atlanta BeltLine homeowners and counting will have their property tax increases paid through 2030, enabling them to remain in their homes and participate in generational wealth-building outcomes.

Home Empowerment Workshops

262 residents participated in Homestead Tax Exemptions, Tax Appeal, and Budgeting and Banking workshops to help reduce their homeownership costs and stabilize their finances.

Fighting Housing Insecurity

In partnership with the Atlanta Land Trust, we were awarded a $3.3 million Georgia Investments in Housing Grant to create 15 permanently affordable town homes along the BeltLine for residents earning less than 65% of the area median income. Grant funds will also help us connect these new homeowners with financial resources through our home empowerment workshops and partner network.

Neighbor to Neighbor Atlanta

In partnership with Rocket Community Fund and the Partnership for Southern Equity (PSE), we canvased Atlanta BeltLine neighborhoods to connect residents with resources and providers to bolster housing and renter stability. Data collected will be used to inform policymakers about the drivers of displacement in Atlanta BeltLine communities.

Through the generosity of our donors, the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership made significant investments to enable Atlanta BeltLine implementation, primarily towards the completion of the 22-mile mainline trail corridor. Our commitment to empowering residents reflects the strong growth of the Legacy Resident Retention Program.

At the same time, we continue to engage the public through programs that promote understanding, activation, and care of the Atlanta BeltLine. Total net assets of over $56 million largely consist of cash and pledges to support future BeltLine construction, land acquisition, and programs.
