Mission Vision

The Athens Dance Team’s mission is to promote, & uphold positive school spirit, execute the art of dance to a degree of excellence and maintain a positive reputation both at Athens and in the community at large by holding all members to high standards.

Athens City Schools Dance Programs vision is to inspire our community with non-competitive dance performances and offer many opportunities that will motivate, educate, and develop an appreciation of the fine arts. We will support Golden Eagle Spirit by striving for excellence and accept only positive thinking.

In order to up hold the mission and vision statements of the Athens Dance Team, members are expected to follow the regulations that were presented before tryouts Anyone trying out and being selected has agreed to the regulations

Must maintain a 70 average in core classes (Following the AHSAA Academic Eligibility)

Must attend all performances, games, and other scheduled activities. Any reason attendance can not be fulfilled must discussed with coach

Must not leave early or arrive late unless approved by the coach

Must wear the correct practice/performance uniforms. This includes wearing hair as directed.

Members are responsible for upkeep of all uniforms

Members are not to have gum or candy during practices or performances

Phones should be put away during practices or performances.

Members may not be chosen for every routine but should have sufficient knowledge of all the routines

Any member that misses a combination of three performances/practices will be dismissed from the team unless it is excused by coach.

Members are to take ownership of all directions given and not rely on others

Members are encouraged to take at least one dance class outside of dance team practice.

Inappropriate behavior at practice, school, performances or at any other time while representing Athens High School will not be tolerated

PERFORMANCES DANCE

TheAthensHighSchooldanceteamwillperformonthesidelinesduring homeVarsityFootballGames Memberswilllearnsidelinedancesthatgo withthemusicoftheGoldenEagleMarchingBand. Memberswillalsolearn simplesidelinechatstopromotespirit

AthensMiddleandHighSchoolDanceTeamswillperformduringanypep ralliesheldthroughouttheyear. Membersshouldbepreparedtodoany sidelinedancesorapeprallydance

Football Pep Rally Parades

AthensMiddleandHighSchoolDanceTeamswillmarchintheAthens HomecomingparadeandtheCityofAthensChristmasparade.

Basketball

AthensMiddleandHighSchoolDanceTeamswillperformduringhalftimeof allhomegames Inaddition,HighSchoolmembersshouldbepreparedtodo anysidelinedancesand/orfillinforcheerleadersandcheerifasked.

Band

AthensHighSchoolDanceTeamwillperformwiththeGoldenEagle MarchingBandduringpregameofallhomefootballgames. HighSchool memberscouldalsobeincludedinahalftimenumberifthebandaskthe danceteamtoparticipate.

PRACTICE AND SKILLS DANCE

AthensMiddleandHighSchoolDanceTeamswillberequiredtopracticeat leastonedayaweekafterschoolhours TherearetentativeplansfortheHigh SchoolDanceTeamtobeinablockfirstsemester.

Membersareexpectedtoreviewandpracticeontheirown. Videoswillbe usedwhenneededandsharedtotheteamforextrareinforcement

Members of the dance team are expected to know the following skills
