Liverpool Empire - Youth Theatre Application Form - In the Heights

Liverpool Empire Youth Theatre 2018 The Liverpool Empire Youth Theatre We are now recruiting for new members aged 14-21 years for our youth theatre company (school year 10 and above). We are looking for young people from across the Merseyside region from variety of backgrounds and experience to join us for this year’s productions.

The Youth Musical Theatre meets on a Wednesday and Thursday evening at the Empire Theatre, between 6:30 – 9:30pm. You will not be required to attend every week but you will need to keep both evenings available.

The company involves young people working towards a large scale musical theatre production that will be performed on the Liverpool Empire Theatre’s world famous stage.

This year’s production will be “In the Heights.”

Music Lin-Manuel Miranda; Lyrics Lin-Manuel Miranda; Book Quiara Alegría Hudes IN THE HEIGHTS tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New Yorks Washington Heights neighbourhood. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.

This production take place at The Liverpool Empire on 24 th-25th August with intensive rehearsals 13th-23rd August.

This year the Liverpool Empire Creative Learning Department will also be producing ‘Showstoppers 2018’ a showcase which will also be at the Liverpool Empire Theatre.

This will take place on 4th April with the technical rehearsal on 3rd April.

Those wishing to be part of the company will need to attend the auditions on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th January 6:30-9:30pm Recall auditions will take place on the Wednesday 17 th and Thursday 18th January 6:30-9:30pm.

Auditions are free and are open to everyone regardless of experience.

You must complete and return an application by midday on Monday 8th January 2018 to apply. Please send completed applications to LiverpoolCreativeLearning@theambassadors.com. You will be notified after the application deadline of your audition time via email no later than Tuesday 9th January 2018.

During the audition you will be required to take part in a singing and dance workshop further details will be sent.

Liverpool Empire Youth Theatre 2018 Membership for the youth theatre is from January – August 2018. £260 Membership fees are payable following a successful audition Please complete the application form on the following page and return along with two passport photographs which will be used for identification at the auditions.

Important dates you must be available for: Wed 24th and Thursday 25th January first Youth Theatre Sessions.

Youth Theatre takes place every Wednesday and Thursday evening during term time between 6:30-9:15pm. You will not be required every week but must be available. A schedule will be sent out in advance detailing when you will be needed.

We understand the pressures and importance of school exams and will work with you to accommodate this particularly during May & June.

Feb half term Rehearsals will be daytime and evenings as intensive rehearsals for the April showcase. You will not be required to attend every day and we will let you know when you are needed closer to the time. We are aware different schools have different holidays (we will follow the Liverpool and Wirral half term dates.)

28th and 29th March- Rehearsals 3rd-4th April- Showcase at Liverpool Empire Theatre 13th-25th August- Summer Musical Theatre Production at Liverpool Empire Theatre You must be available for all of these dates.

Appendix 1: Consent form for the use of photographs and video The Ambassador Theatre Group recognises the need to ensure the welfare and safety of all children.

In accordance with our child protection policy we will not permit photographs, video or other images of children and young people to be taken without the consent of the guardian /carers and children.

The Ambassador Theatre Group will follow the guidance for the use of photographs a copy of which is available from the Head of Learning & Access.

The Ambassador Theatre Group will take all steps to ensure these images are used solely for the purposes they are intended. If you become aware that these images are being used inappropriately, you should inform the Ambassador Theatre Group immediately.
