In November, we were proud to host the Southport Ambassador Awards, affectionately known as ‘the Ammies’. Voted by the public, the Ammies honour all the best that Southport has to offer in its retail, leisure, tourism and service industries. Host and Radio City DJ Claire Simmo said: ‘I love hosting the Ammies. It’s my home town and everyone nominated and shortlisted works exceptionally hard, this is a great way for the people of Southport to thank them.’

Jam packed with all the great shows you’d expect from April 2017 onwards. ‘As a member of the Box Office team, I really enjoy talking to customers about their favourite shows, but if you asked me to pick my choice Alex Long from the season, it would have to be Russell Brand and his new show Re:Birth.

More than just a comedian, he’s eloquent and entertaining, then you add his irrepressible ego into the mix and it makes for an electric atmosphere!’

‘I’m the Senior Operations Manager and, as a mum to two young children, I’m always looking for ways to keep them entertained. Dinosaurs are Sarah More high on their list of ‘cool things’ so I was delighted to see Dinosaur World in our summer programme. Friends who have seen it say the interaction is perfect for children. I can’t wait for them to see these life-like creatures in the theatre, they’re going to love it!’

As part of their centenary celebrations in 2017 the world’s leading Brass Band are touring the country. Music brings back so many wonderful memories and this feel good afternoon filled with over 60 all time favourite songs from the 1940s through to the 1970s will have the memories flooding back. All mixed with stunning costumes, amazing voices, and lots of laughter, this show will brighten everyone’s day and prove how special Music and Memories are.

Commonly referred to as an institution on the 60s circuit, this is the UK’s original and premier sixties show, bringing you classic hits performed by the original hit makers.

With last year’s Snow White a smash hit, we’re planning another stunning show for this Christmas, with the magical tale of Cinderella.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS

The Creative Learning team offers bespoke workshops packages across the region. Our workshops can be show specific, or about a theme, skill/technique, practitioner or discipline, or a blend of these. We also offer a variety of Backstage Tours and talks for schools and Groups which focus on careers within the theatre industry.

Our workshops can be run within your school/ meeting place or Empire Theatre. Perfect as part of Artsmark, Arts Award, a schools arts week, or in preparation for a school performance.

After school clubs take place in your school over a 6 – 10 week term – choose from dance, drama or musical theatre. At the end of term we hold a short performance for family and friends to see the work that has been created.

Examples include: SHOW BASED WORKSHOPS Show based workshops prior to or following a theatre visit – these can be inspired by the show or by the theatre itself.

ARTS WEEKS Our team can spend a week in your school working across all age ranges using song, dance, drama, storytelling or art to explore a particular theme chosen by you. At the end of the week, we can present the work as part of your school assembly.
