Named after Jesus Christ and the mother church of the Society of Jesus in Rome, the Church of the Gesù is the Ateneo’s architectural gem located at the Sacred Heart Hill, the highest point of the campus. Immaculate Conception Chapel. The Immaculate Conception Chapel is the sanctuary of students, faculty, and staff of the Loyola Schools. The chapel’s overall design was inspired by the Chapel of Notre Dame in Haute Saone, France and the St. Ignatius Chapel in the University of Seattle in Washington, U.S.A. The chapel’s main distinguishing feature is its revolving cross with a crucified Christ on one side and a resurrected Christ on the other.
