Building for the future with sustainable finance

We’re committed to responsible lending – especially when it comes to reducing the carbon footprint of our industry. That’s why we launched our pilot sustainable lending programme to incentivise smaller SME developers to reduce the carbon impact of their developments.

Qualifying developments and developers enjoy a lower cost of borrowing in return for substantial, evidenced reductions in the carbon impact of their developments.

Green Building Council Aiming for Net Zero Beyond Bricks and Mortar

We were the first SME focused development lender to join the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC), which is a forum of industry leaders dedicated to driving greater sustainability in real estate and construction. As a Gold Leaf member, we join the UKGBC’s 600 members which include Britain’s biggest and most influential housebuilders as well as the real estate arms of banks and institutional investors.

Carbonlite Challenge O -site and Modular

Working with support from the Royal Institute of British Architects and a panel of expert collaborators, we aim to cut carbon in the built environment by seamlessly connecting capital seeking low-carbon opportunities with the most ambitious low-carbon property developers.

We are the first major lender to launch a comprehensive lending framework for developers building homes with o site and modular construction technology. The potential benefits of o site construction are clear; consistent build quality, reduced costs and time on site, and strong sustainability credentials. Our framework incorporates the expertise of more than 30 leaders in o site technology to give developers, intermediaries and contractors a clear and practical guide to the opportunities and challenges that these new ways of building o er.
