What is Ayurveda ? Ayurveda is the old Indian system of natural and holistic medicine. When translating from Sanskrit, Ayurveda means “the science of life” (the Sanskrit word ayur means “longevity of life” and veda means “science”). Ayurvedic medicine is one of the world's oldest holistic healing systems. It is aged for more than 3,000 years in India. It is based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a balance between the mind, body, and spirit. On one hand allopathic medicine tends to focus on the management of disease. On the other hand, Ayurveda provides us with the knowledge of how to prevent disease. It also provides us with the knowledge of how to eliminate its root cause if it is occurring. PRINCIPLES OF AYURVEDA:
The knowledge of Ayurveda is passed on orally. Later it is put into text more than five thousand years ago. These texts tell us about how the five elements found in the cosmic system - earth, water, air, fire, space – is impacting an individual system. Ayurveda expounds on the importance of keeping these elements in balance for a healthy and happy life. According to Ayurveda, each person is always influencing by certain elements more than others. This is because of their natural constitution.
