The Honors Academy is a personalized small learning program designed to expose high-achieving students in our honors program to advanced study in the following career disciplines: law, engineering, health sciences, and finance. The students complete a curriculum concentration (akin to a college major) over the course of three years. In addition to highly rigorous courses, students complete a research symposium evaluated by a panel of academicians, an internship, and a culminating project (a dissertation) also reviewed by a panel of professors and professionals. Honors students with a cumulative average of 90% or higher in their freshman year may apply. They must be accepted into the program following a selective process.
Below are the required courses for each Honors Academy concentration. Students are also responsible for general core courses in Mathematics, Science, English, History, Foreign Language, and Religious Studies programs. (Academy students may enroll in AP Research and AP Seminar to fulfill core English requirements.) Each Honors Academy student graduates with an additional 2–4 credits above the school graduation requirement.
NB: 20% of the school population is enrolled in the Susan and Daniel P. Mahoney ’67 Honors Academy Program.
