A WORD FROM OUR LEADERS

To the Aspiritech Community, This year marked my one-year anniversary at Aspiritech. It was the most rewarding and challenging year of my life. On this journey I learned about the true heart of Aspiritech — certainly a workplace that embraces neurodiversity but also a community, a spirit, and a home. I’ve also seen the struggles of autistic adults up close. So many people have shared stories with me about their lives before Aspiritech. Every single day I hear from talented autistic adults all over the world that dream of working at this incredible organization. It is these challenges that drive me forward and inspire me to get up and work harder every single day. We have so much work to do. We have so much to make better. I am so grateful for the foundation partners and donors who make what we do possible. Our Support team, our ACE fund, our SUO program — they all help our team members not only in work but in life. Thank you for your incredible support. We are also grateful for our clients and partners who work with us day in and day out. In 2022 we also launched a series of inclusion groups for our team members that allow our community to come together. The Autism Advocacy Group especially was a beacon of kindness and learning for me as I came to understand how to be the best leader possible for a team of neurodivergent colleagues. Our Aspiritech Remote Employment Academy also saw its second year and is expanding into a program that will go beyond a summer internship and evolve into yearlong learning opportunities! We also launched NeuroGrowth, a training and education program for organizations aiming to become more neurodivergent-friendly and empower team members to achieve their full potential! We continue to partner with organizations such as HAAPE and Neurowrx to advocate for a world that embraces neurodiversity. I am so excited at everything that is ahead for Aspiritech and for the world as we come together every day to achieve our vision. With a heart full of gratitude and a will to work for what we believe in, Tara May CEO

A WORD FROM OUR LEADERS Dear Aspiritech Community, I am happy to present our annual report celebrating the remarkable progress we have made together over the past year. At the heart of our success are our exceptional team members on the autism spectrum. Their unique perspectives, unwavering dedication, and extraordinary skills have been instrumental in driving our mission forward. We extend our deepest gratitude to these individuals who continue to make a profound impact on our organization and the broader community.

In addition to our remarkable team, we are fortunate to have the unwavering support of our generous donors, foundations, and partners. Their belief in our mission and their continued contributions have been vital in raising the necessary funds to support our programs. Moreover, we have successfully expanded our revenue streams through diverse client engagement, allowing us to create more opportunities for individuals on the autism spectrum. While we faced challenges posed by the pandemic and recent economic events, we remain steadfast in our commitment to diversify our customer base and foster growth. Our resilience, adaptability, and innovative approach have allowed us to navigate these difficulties while continuing to deliver high-quality services to our clients. We are unwavering in our dedication to creating a more inclusive workforce and providing fulfilling career opportunities for individuals on the autism spectrum. I would like to express my deep appreciation for our management team, led by our exceptional CEO, Tara May. Under Tara's leadership, our organization has thrived, and her vision and guidance have been instrumental in propelling us forward. Furthermore, we have been fortunate to welcome several new leaders to our stellar team who have made significant contributions and brought fresh perspectives to our organization. Their dedication and expertise have further strengthened our capacity to achieve our mission. Lastly, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our outstanding Board of Directors, both past and present. Each member brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from various industries, and their collective dedication and guidance have been invaluable in shaping our strategic direction and fueling our growth. As we look to the future, we remain steadfast in our commitment to empower individuals on the autism spectrum and create a more inclusive society. With your continued support, we are confident that we can achieve even greater milestones and transform more lives. Thank you for being an integral part of the Aspiritech community, and for your unwavering support in our mission. Together, we will continue to break down barriers and unlock the incredible potential of individuals on the autism spectrum. With heartfelt gratitude,

Michael Duff Chair, Board of Directors Aspiritech

A WORD FROM OUR LEADERS To Our Supportive Community, Even as a thought exercise, I never could have imagined an organization as compassionate, people-forward, mission-driven, and FUN as Aspiritech. When you’re coming up in HR you learn to prioritize in a specific way - Protect the organization first, protect the bottom line second, and worry about the people if you happen to have the time. It has been the best months of my career playing a part in turning that on its head. What has that meant for the organization? More than 90 percent … As in the number of employees who say they are highly engaged and happy at Aspiritech, as reported in our first-ever employee engagement survey. For an organization of over 100 employees, this is unheard of. We have tons of momentum right now with our people initiatives. In the past 12 months, we have: 1. Massively overhauled our PTO offerings 2. Added new company holidays 3. Cut benefit costs while adding additional options 4. Aspiritech’s first 401k went live 5. Started an Employee Assistance Program 6. Began an Engagement Survey to ensure our priorities match those of our teams 7. Launched our first LGBTQIA+ training with the guidance of our LGBTQIA+ group. And the list goes on! I am blessed to have the opportunity to continue my professional journey at Aspiritech - To grow in an environment that values kindness, nurtures individuality, promotes open communication, and fosters an inclusive workplace culture where we can all feel respected, supported, and empowered to reach our full potential. I am thrilled about the future you are helping us create. Under Tara’s leadership and the invaluable support of our Board of Directors, we will continue to operate in a way that encourages just as much happiness and growth for our people as it does for the organization. Sincerely, Dominick Bruno Vice President of People and Culture

STEPPING UP AND OUT The Stepping Up & Out program, which was launched in 2012 and continues to be made possible thanks to the generous support of the Grandy Foundation, brings together autistic adults from Aspiritech and the larger community. Through workshops, team building, fun activities, and exciting outings, SUO helps reduce isolation and enhance social experiences. Alex Dudasik joined Aspiritech as a Software Tester (now called a QA Analyst) in 2014. Today, he serves as Aspiritech’s Happiness Coordinator and as SUO Coordinator, planning events and activities for neurodivergent employees and community members. We saw significant expansion of the program in 2022 as we work to help both our team members and community members thrive. Through the implementation of the “HeyTaco” program team members are able to congratulate and show gratitude for each other, enhancing self-esteem and engagement for Aspiritech team members. The expansion included a new Twitch streaming channel and gaming night led by Chris Newton. We continue to operate the program in a hybrid model, making sure team members have a chance to gather both virtually and in-person. Every week Alex facilitates a digital community with video gatherings, book clubs, Pokemon clubs, chat conversations, and much more. Some of the recent outings have included going to see The Super Mario Bros. Movie, a Schaumburg Boomers Baseball Game, a Local Comic Con, Mitsuwa Marketplace, the Volo Auto Museum, a CSO Concert at Ravinia Festival, and much more! Alex also plans Aspiritech’s annual summer picnic and holiday party. Aspiritech employees also benefit from various Support Staff-run SUO events such as weekly Wellness Wednesday discussions, guided meditation, monthly soft skill training with group discussions to better understand topics, and employee led identity-focused groups such as Autism Advocacy, Gender Identity, Women’s Empowerment, and Parenting/Caregiving group. These group discussions provide Aspiritech employees with a safe space to express themselves in an empowering setting.

STEPPING UP AND OUT

AREA ASPIRITECH'S REMOTE EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING ACADEMY launched as a brand-new innovative program at Aspiritech that allows autistic students a chance to fully immerse in learning QA and preparing for a career in technology. In 2022 it expanded from beyond a summer program to a year long initiative! More than two dozen completely new participants are either graduated or scheduled and it is continuously growing! We had more than 100 applicants for our summer program. New team members can attend our two-week onboarding academy as preparation for becoming part of the Aspiritech team or before embarking on careers in quality assurance anywhere. AREA allowed Aspiritech to hire its very first team member on the West Coast! Existing team members can take classes to learn new skills and develop their talents in other program lines or projects. Soft skill training courses are also available to new and existing team members as well as neurodivergent members of the larger community. The AREA program is also developing its first-ever remote internship program. AREA also includes the implementation of a digital Learning Management System, which allows users to take courses online and for us to host a suite of trainings, including technical courses and more. The AREA program is made possible through a generous grant from MEAF, the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation. Our Aspiritech Academy expansion is empowered by our partners at the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation and the HAAPE Foundation. If you have a candidate who might be interested, please contact Aspiritech’s VP of People & Culture Nick Bruno. by emailing hr@aspiritech.org.

ASSIST, CHANGE & EMPOWER: THE ACE FUND The ACE FUND is an emergency fund for staff in need. ACE FUND grants are often pivotal to a recipient’s ability to maintain meaningful and gainful employment at Aspiritech, and thereby lead a healthy, independent life. All grant applications are reviewed anonymously by an independent committee. In 2022, the ACE FUND distributed $22,000 in emergency grants. This resource was a lifeline for many employees facing unexpected hardships, including medical bills, legal fees for life transitions and assistance with auto repairs. Since its inception the ACE fund has distributed 76 grants totalling more than $110,000 to Aspiritech’s team members. Funded by the generous contributions of community members and foundation partners, the goal of the ACE FUND is to assist, change and empower staff. ASSIST with transportation, housing or short-term unexpected medical, family and other emergency expenses CHANGE the quality of life by funding programs or services incorporating fitness, health and wellness and independent living EMPOWER through funding continuing education opportunities, advocacy programs and navigation of resources and benefits To learn more about the ACE FUND or to make a contribution to help our team members most in need, please contact Tara May, CEO, at tara.may@aspiritech.org or (517) 862-2893.

INTERNATIONAL ALLIANCES

INTERNATIONAL ALLIANCES Aspiritech is a model and a brand that is recognized around the world. We often have visitors from different countries coming to learn and emulate our model in their home nation. In 2022, we hosted visitors from Japan, Spain, Australia, the United Kingdom, and more. Our applicants reflect this demand for international growth. In the past few months alone we have received inquiries from Colombia, the Philippines, India, the Netherlands, South Africa, and more. “I dream of someday working for Aspiritech,” one applicant recently told us. We’re working on a network of information and referral sources to be able to share with this international community as our brand and reputation grows. Aspiritech is also a founding member of Neurowrx based on the incredible hard work and strategic vision of co-founder Brenda Weitzberg. We continue that tradition with Tara May sitting on the Board of Directors, a visit to Belgium for its international conference in 2022 and hosting the conference at our Evanston headquarters in 2023. Neurowrx is a global alliance of corporations, non-profit organizations, and individuals working together to foster and inspire employment for people on the autism spectrum (AS) in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) industries. We are working to continue to expand to inspire people all over the globe and hopefully someday to hire them as well!

A FRESH FACE FOR ASPIRITECH In 2022 we partnered with Mobility Quotient, a full-service digital and development firm that donated a complete website redesign and rebuild for Aspiritech! This generous gift allowed us to build a Wordpress website that is searchfriendly, easily to update, and filled with incredible new features, such as a community calendar! This allows us to better market our tech services and build our customers so we can fulfill our mission to offer meaningful employment opportunities to more autistic adults. It also allows us to do more outreach to community members, partners, and potential future employees! We get inquiries through the site from all over the world, including Colombia, India, the Philippines, Asia, Australia, the United Kingdom, and more! We’re working to build an information and referral infrastructure to be able to support even more people than those we are able to hire. Please check it out at www.aspiritech.org.

SUPPORT SERVICES

An important aspect of Aspiritech’s mission is our support services. Social outings, clubs, leadership training, job coaching, and an emergency fund help our employees (and in some cases, neurodivergent members of the general public) thrive. Our Employment Support Specialist (ESS) team includes professionals with backgrounds in social work, clinical counseling, behavior therapy, community outreach, and technical support. In 2022, the ESS staff assisted the Aspiritech team while working in a hybrid capacity with both team members on-site in our office locations as well as through remote interactions with our team members still working from home. They have provided virtual 1:1 online meetings, facilitated discussion groups, and social activities for team members feeling heightened anxiety in stressful times. *More than 50% of the costs of funding our support services, including technical coaches and the emergency grant ACE FUND, comes from our generous philanthropic partners. The following foundations have supported our wraparound services over the years: Barnsley Fund, Modestus Bauer Foundation, Alvin H. Baum Family Fund, Helen Brach Foundation, Fred. J. Brunner Foundation, Debicki Foundation, Finnegan Family Foundation, Julian Grace Foundation, Grandy Foundation, Christopher L. and M. Susan Gust Foundation, Health Care Foundation of Highland Park, Takiff Family Foundation, and Sweeney Family Foundation. We are also deeply grateful to the many other donors who have contributed to the success of our ESS services. Thank you!
