SCALE & COIN FALL 2024 RECRUITMENT

A Letter from the President

Hi, everyone!

My name is Bruna Ricciardi, and I’m the Fall 2024 President of UNC Scale and Coin. On behalf of our entire organization, I’d like to welcome you to this semester’s recruitment cycle! We are so excited you ’ ve decided to get to know us!

When I think about Scale, not only do I think about how it shaped me professionally and prepared me for the professional endeavors I would embark on, I think of friendships that will last a lifetime. Because the truth is, when I think of Scale, I think of family. Through Scale, I have formed relationships with so many unique individuals who have made my college experience.

I, along with all of our members, know first hand that recruitment can often be intimidating and nerve wracking, but we are here to help you through it and get to know you for you! The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to come out to recruitment events with your true self. Authenticity is one of the most important aspects that we can offer and also hope to find in any potential new member.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know Scale and Coin. I wish you the best of luck, and I know I speak for the entire brotherhood when I say we can’t wait to meet you!

Why Scale?

FROM S&C BROTHERS

Ryan Norris - Class of 2027

“Joining Scale and Coin was one of the best things I did when coming to UNC. I didn’t know many people or what subject I wanted to pursue, and Scale helped me solve both problems. Scale gave me strong personal relationships with people of all different backgrounds and interests, while teaching me many important lessons about the professional world. Overall, joining Scale fostered my growth more than I ever imagined, both socially and professionally. I am indebted to Scale because my UNC experience would not be the same without it ”

Peyton Bear - Class of 2026

"As an international student arriving at UNC, my goal was to find a community of like-minded and fun individuals. Scale has not just fulfilled that expectation but has also exceeded it, offering incredible professional development opportunities and a strong network. The enjoyable social events and cherished moments spent with Scale friends have made my UNC experience truly unforgettable Scale has been an essential part of my journey so far, and I cannot imagine my time here without it!"

Heather Norland - Class of 2025

“Scale has not only taught me useful professional skills such as resume building and interview skills, it has also brought me my best friends and the best Carolina community! Living in one of the Scale houses has made my college experience because of the many memories made and because of Spring Break together in Hungary! In addition to the community, being a Pre-Med in a Business society has really showed me that this society can be beneficial for everyone!”

Sophie Sherali - Class of 2024

"Joining Scale and Coin was one of the best decisions I made at university both personally and professionally. Every member has a vested interest in connecting with one another and helping each other achieve their professional goals. Through our network and actionable PD process, we ’ ve created a pipeline of high-achieving mentors and mentees.

On a personal note, I’ve developed lifelong friendships with diverse and value-oriented individuals If you ’ re thinking about applying…100% go for it!"

What We Do

VALUES BASED RECRUITMENT

We recruit students that embody values important to the four pillars that are the foundation to Scale and Coin

New Member Education

Scale and Coin’s predominant goal is to prepare young students to be adequately qualified and prepared for a career in business, and to assist them in developing both professionally and personally. The organization takes a new training class each semester who undergo a thorough multi-week professional development training program, preparing members for work in any industry, with mentorship from upperclassmen.

Professional Development

Through weekly professional development workshops based on different aspects of business, trainees complete deliverables to present at brotherhood meetings, receiving constructive criticism and feedback from members.

Additionally, brothers have claimed top prizes at case competitions such as the Deloitte Case Competition and nationally-acclaimed financial challenges, like the Fed Challenge. With an established alumni network, spanning industries, members receive immense support through the recruiting process for both internships and full-time positions.

VALUES BASED RECRUITMENT

Service

Scale and Coin places a special emphasis on service in and around the Triangle community, as the organization hopes to shape brothers into not just better business leaders, but better individuals as a whole. Scale and Coin has longstanding relationships with organizations such as Reading Partners and the Durham Literacy Center, and has partnered with Hope Gardens NC, UNC Hackathon, UNC Children's Hospital, and more for engaging service events. Members of Scale also partake in monthly highway cleanups on the Scale and Coin sponsored highway.

Brotherhood

While Scale and Coin is a professional organization, brotherhood is one of the most important tenets. Brothers form especially close bonds with members of their training class, in addition to the social network gained through the brotherhood as a whole. Scale and Coin provides a platform for multiple social events each semester, including brotherhood retreats, group dinners, formal events, and events with other campus and community organizations.
