Start your 1st day in Greece tasting Macedonian pies salted or sweet from Hotel’s breakfast buffet. Departure from the hotel for t he best introduction to Thessaloniki. A panorama drive through the city will introduce you to all the main sites and m onuments of exceptio nal historical importance. With our tour guide we will visit the Archaeological Museum, walk through the tiny streets with traditional ho uses that lead to the Byzantine walls and towers and will stop at the Citadel to enjoy a panoramic view of Thessaloniki. Later, we will sto p at the early By zantine basilica of Saint Demetrious, built on the ruins of a Roman bath where the patron saint of the ci ty lost his life. Moreover we will hav e the chance to see the Ancient Roman Agora (Fo rum) of Thessaloniki. Additionally, you will see the International Fair of Thessaloniki grounds and the University area. The triumphal Arch of Emperor Galerius. The excell ently preserv ed circular “Rotonda”, and there will be tim e to take a look at the Galerius Mausoleum. We will make a photo stop in front of the White Tower - the symbol of Thessaloniki - that stands on the waterfront. End of the tour. Overnight.

3 r d day: Thessal oniki - Free day ASIT- Optional/Alternative/Tips:  If you feel like seeing one museum, you can choose either the Archaeological Museum or the Byzantine Museum, equally interesting.  “Alexander the Great Tour” Pella - Vergina – Veria. A magnificent tour into the Macedonian kingdom. In Pella the site contains the ruins of the royal family’s summer palace, where, in later years, Philip II was assassinated and buried. The discovery of his tomb in 1977 was hailed as one of the greatest archaeological finds of the century. The rich and im pressive artefacts that were unearthed can be viewed there along with the tombs themselves and the amazing frescoes, rare samples of painting from antiquity. Next stop Vergina, the museum of Ver gina and the ancient royal tombs of Philip, the King of Macedo nia and father of Alexander the Great (our personal guide will wait for us for the tour). Veria is the last stop, a picturesque town with a unique landscape and ar chitecture. We will drive through the city, see St. Paul’s Altar. Take a rest and enjoy a cof fee at a traditional café or a lunch to a local restaurant (optional). Walk for a while through the lovely streets of the city, full of old Byzantine chur ches and unique historical monuments. Return to Thessaloniki.

ASIT- Optional/Alternative/Tips:  Mount Athos. Today visit M ount Athos or “Aghion Oros. In the East leg of Chalkidiki peninsula heaven meets its counter part in the wonderful pr istine nature. The “ Holy Mountain” has been an autonomous monastic state since the 1 1th century by or der of an Imperial Byzantine decree. Having reached Ormos Panagias, by coach, board the ship for a cruise around the coastline of the Monastic State of Athos. Enjoy the view of the beautiful scenery and the Byzantine monasteries of exceptional and unique architecture. The cruise ends as we cross back to Ouranoupolis wher e you will enjoy lunch at a Gr eek tavern. ( from 1 s t of May) .
