The National Centre of Audiovisual Media and Communication (EKOME) is committed to its mission to promote Greece as a top audiovisual destination, providing continuous support to the local audiovisual industry professionals. EKOME has created all necessary conditions for Greece to stand out as a very attractive location for the production of audiovisual works. 2021 was a milestone year in the course of our efforts to support audiovisual productions realized in Greece. Through our attractive incentives of 40% cash rebate and 30% tax relief and thanks to the country's emergence as one of the safest shooting locations globally, Greece recently attracted a significant number of international high-budget productions of global distribution. Especially in the field of animation, we collaborate with the domestic community in a series of activities in the form of a strategic cooperation with ASIFA HELLAS, the Hellenic Animation Association. Therefore, we are constantly a key supporter of the Greek national delegation in Annecy MIFA, the world's largest animation event, recognizing its role for the international synergies development for our local animation industry. ASIFA HELLAS HELLENIC ANIMATION ASSOCIATION ASIFA HELLAS, the Hellenic Animation Association, was created in 2008, aiming at promoting the art of animation in Greece and beyond. In 2015, it acquired its current legal form as a non-profit civil company with a 5-member Board, 16 General Assembly members and a total of around 100 members of the Association. Being present for a 6th consecutive year at Annecy, ASIFA HELLAS provides data on the new ecosystem for Animation in Greece and implements the Greece Animated action, designed to connect Greek Animators with the International animation Industry. Industry networks built in the past six years, with the contribution of both the private and public sectors are the leading point for a brighter future of Greek Animation.

EKOME NATIONAL CENTRE OF AUDIOVISUAL MEDIA AND COMMUNICATION The National Centre of Audiovisual Media and Communication-EKOME supports the audiovisual production in Greece by implementing the Greek investment incentives for audiovisual production. · Following a successful first implementation, the Cash Rebate program amounts today to 40% and has already been granted to more than a hundred of Greek and international projects. · The Tax Relief program offers a tax deduction of 30% for investment in audiovisual productions in Greece. · The National Film Offices Network operates in 13 Regions and two major Municipalities in Greece and offers a new approach to services provided swiftly and efficiently.

GREEK FILM CENTRE The Greek Film Centre (GFC) is the main institution that exercises cinema policy in Greece. Its main goals are: a. The protection, support and development of film production in Greece b. The promotion and diffusion of Greek film productions, both domestically and internationally c. The promotion of Greece abroad as an appropriate location for filming cinematic and audiovisual productions, as well as the attraction of foreign cinematic and audiovisual productions in Greece, in general. Hellas Film and the Hellenic Film Commission are in charge of the actions related to the objectives b) and c) respectively. The Greek Film Centre (GFC) has signed several bilateral co-production agreements with other countries, such as France (via CNC, the Centre National de Cinema et del' Image Animée) and Canada, giving the pos-

sibility for Greek Producers to apply for additional funding to Eurimages and the network of French Speaking Countries. The Greek Film Centre granted also the Prize for the Best Greek Animation Film, which was awarded for the first time on January 31st 2016.

CREATIVE EUROPE MEDIA GFC - DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH & PROGRAMMES The EU Programme Creative Europe MEDIA supports the European audiovisual industry and seeks to promote the development, distribution and promotion of European films. Creative Europe 2021-2027, with a 50% budget increase, will invest in actions that reinforce cultural diversity and respond to the needs and challenges of the cultural and creative sectors. Its novelties will contribute to the recovery of these sectors, reinforcing their efforts to become more digital, green, resilient and inclusive. Animation professionals can benefit from the following opportunities: · Development funding for projects intended for cinema, TV or digital platforms, including non-linear projects · Production funding for animation content intended

FRENCH INSTITUTE OF GREECE
The French Institute of Greece co-organised for several consecutive years the International Animation Day with ASIFA HELLAS. Because the 28th of October is a National Holiday in Greece, the first public screening of animation by Emile Raynaud (28th of October 1892 at the Musée Grevin) is celebrated a few days in advance of the actual anniversary date. In 2019, the screenings took place silmutaneously in Athens and Thessaloniki.

ANIMASYROS INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION FESTIVAL Animasyros International Animation Festival launched its journey into the world of animation on 19 September 2002 in the island of Syros in Greece. Since then, Animasyros takes place annually in the capital of the Cyclades complex. This year’s edition of the festival, Animasyros 2022, takes place on 20-25 September 2022, in a phygital format. Animasyros Festival is organized into three main pillars, the artistic programme, the educational programmes and the Market section, while there are also parallel activities such as exhibitions, concerts and parties. Animasyros was launched, as an initiative of the nonprofit company Platforma-Urban Culture Co, in order to promote to the audience the art of animated film, while the initiative aimed at building and maintaining a creative meeting and networking hub of animation

ATHENS ANIMFEST The Athens Animfest, the International Animation Festival of Athens is taking place every spring in various venues in Athens. The festival includes short animated movies in competition, workshops, lectures, exhibition are included during the four days actives.

CHANIARTOON INTERNATIONAL COMIC & ANIMATION FESTIVAL Chaniartoon - International Comic & Animation Festival was founded in 2017 and is taking place every September in the city of Chania in Crete. The main categories of the festival are the art of animation and comics. In the animation field, there are several projections of short and feature animation films from all over the world, competition sections and several special tributes. In the comic section, there is every year a big exhibition with many interactive elements, from more than 50 artists. Also, there is a 3-day artist alley, with more than 50 guest artists visiting Chania and exhibiting their art. In 2020 game design become a new field of the festival, as it is an art that combines illustration and animation, with the interactivity aspect. During the festival, there are many parallel activities, like workshops, a small conference, technology areas, projection mappings, music

concerts and others. Chaniartoon is close to technology, as it was the first festival that in 2019 produced and presented an interactive Augmented Reality Application and in 2020 the first Greek music Virtual Reality Animation. From 2020, it has a VR-animation section, where the audience can experience the films with Head Mount Displays. Until 2021, it has produced many applications, such as AR/VR interactive applications, interactive projection mappings, 3D Desktop applications, and even experimental ones like VR with haptics and scent devices. Depart from the workshops during the festival, in 2021 Chaniartoon started a large educational program, called "Creative Hub", which is taking place all over the year and educate students and adults in art & technology projects (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Projection Mapping, 3D printing, Laser cutting etc.). In 2020 Chaniartoon founded the Chaniartoon Comic Library.

ICONA FESTIVAL Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA Animation Festival which is organized by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University is to present the best from the field of animation from all around the world. The festival also aims to preserve and help develop the cultural heritage of animated film, contribute to creation of new films, provide ground for potential international coproductions and encourages dialogue between professionals, filmmakers and the public.

Meeting with Greek Animation Festivals and Schools The Department of Architecture at the University of Thessaly (Volos) organizes a oneday professional and academic Meeting each May, along with the Animation Festivals and the Academic Institutions providing Animation courses in Greece. In these meetings we discover the variety of artistic approaches that Festivals pursue, and the complementarity of Animation Education Curricula in Greece. STRATOS STASSINOS GREEK ANIMATION ANNUAL AWARDS The ASIFA HELLAS Award for Best Greek Animated Film was introduced in 2015 by the ASIFA HELLAS Board (sponsored by the Greek Film Centre and coorganized by Greekanimation.com) to celebrate the 70 years of Greek animation (1945-2015) and focus on the present and future of Greek animation artists working both in Greece and abroad. The award was renamed in 2016 as Stratos Stassinos Award to honour the eponymous Greek pioneer (1945-2009) of handdrawn and stop-motion animation. The establishment of the Stratos Stassinos Award by ASIFA HELLAS serves to acknowledge the artistic excellence and the growing international visibility of Greek animation films in recent years (2010-present), both in student and professional films; to create a strong sense of community and collaboration between Greek animators working in a field itself characterized by communal effort; and, finally, to enable and empower Greek practitioners to continue their artistic efforts in the international animation scene. Films who have already competed at Greek animation festivals serve
as the pool for preliminary award selection, while the final decision is the result of voting among ASIFA HELLAS members. In 2020, ASIFA HELLAS celebrated 75 years of Greek Animation and decided together with the Greek Film Centre to recognize explicitly student achievements by offering a Student Award in parallel with the Professional Award. This year's ceremony, held in May 2022 in the Greek Cinematheque, respecting Covid-19 sanitary guidelines, awarded Aris Kaplanidis for his 2D Animation short From the Balcony (2020) in the professional category, and Anastasia Papadopoulou and her film Elevator Alone (2021) in Student Category.

Greekanimation.com The web portal Greekanimation.com was created on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the screening of the first Greek animated movie (1945). It is an attempt to register all Greek animation works as well as those who contributed to their creation, the production companies, the festivals, the awards and in general all the information related to the history of the 8th art in Greece. The aim of the portal is to present the Greek animation worldwide and to highlight its contribution to education and organized production.
