What Kind Of Shoes Should You Wear to the Gym? Wearing the right kind of shoes to your workouts is the key to a pleasurable gym experience. It will keep you safe from injury and make your body comfortable. Yes, your shoes are not only affecting your feet, they also make an impact on your body in more ways than one. Your workout is impacted by your choice of shoes as they can take your performance to the next level or bring it down as well. If you have been wearing your running shoes to the gym, there is a chance you may experience aches and pain, and even long-term injury, especially if you are using them for training routines that do not only involve the treadmill. To improve the effectiveness of your exercise routine at the gym, you need to know what kind of activities you will be performing. There are three types of gym shoes that you need to look at.

1. Running Shoes If you are going to the gym to walk or run on the treadmill, then the Asics running shoes fit the bill. These will give you the support and cushioning to keep you comfortable while you cover the miles. They are breathable and lightweight and have a wide toe area to accommodate swelling. The minimum heel height allows natural movement of the feet and a healthy gait. Mat exercises can be performed afterward but they need to be removed if you are planning on heading to the weight section.

2. Cross-training Shoes These shoes have soles that are flat enough to provide a good grip on the feet on the ground. The cushioning on these shoes provides support to your joints making them suitable for almost all gym activities like weight-lifting, cross-training, and cardio machines. Asics cross-training shoes are very versatile as they have a little curve in the sole, allowing you to use your toes for balance and grip.

3. Lifting Shoes If you are planning on lifting weights, especially heavy ones, then your gym shoes need to have flat soles with little cushioning. Your feet need to grip the ground firmly to ensure the support required during weight-lifting. The lift in the heel on these shoes provides extra mobility to the ankle and calf, and this is important for powerlifting and squats.
