DESPITE hundreds of parents’ emotional opposition to proposed changes to California’s immunization requirements in a fivehour hearing, a public health committee in the California Assembly passed a bill that would tighten those requirements on Thursday, June 20. The Assembly Health Committee passed the bill 9-2, moving the bill forward to another committee. ACCORDING to the Philippine National Police (PNP), a total of 6,600 suspected drug offenders have been killed in police operations since the start of President Rodrigo Duterte’s war against drugs. The police data, which was released Tuesday, June 18, during a command conference of top police officials at Camp Crame, covered the incidents from July 1, 2016 — a day after Duterte took his oath as Chief Executive — until May 31, 2019. 240,565 drug personalities were arrested in 153,276 police operations nationwide with 1,283,409 surrendering in the same period. 822 drug personalities, meanwhile, were killed from January to May this year. 38,937 suspects were u PAGE A5
MANILA — President Rodrigo Duterte appointed retired Army general Ricardo Morales to head the Philippine Health Insurance Corp., which is facing a probe into payments made for allegedly fraudulent kidney treatments.
