A SECOND federal judge on Tuesday, February 13 temporarily halted the Trump administration from ending the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. This move comes amidst another week in the months-long immigration wrangle. Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York argued that the federal government’s decision to end DACA — which has granted more than 690,000 undocumented youth work authorization and protection from deportation among other benefits — was an

Ombudsman drops probe on Duterte plunder case by DANA

THE Office of the Ombudsman has already dropped the probe on the plunder complaint against Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, the government’s top lawyer announced on Tuesday, February 13. Solicitor General Jose Calida said he received a letter from Overall Deputy Ombudsman Melchor Arthur Carandang earlier this week, informing him that the investigation on the case “was already closed and terminated” in November last year.
