The Hills live in Cannon Beach, Oregon along with their two golden retrievers, Waffles and Noodles. For the past 20 years, they’ve lived in a Portland suburb and decided it was time to fulfill their dream of relocating to a beach house. The time is right, since they are both semi-retired, and can work remotely when necessary.

CLIENTS Shawn & Jalen Hill

Shawn and Jalen, both in their early 50s, love to entertain friends and family. Their favorite time of year is Christmas — they host the holiday and open their home to an extended family that can number 25, from older parents to nieces, nephews and toddlers.

Shawn, who is 5’ 10”, and Jalen, 6’, are in good health, and since this is their forever home, want to consider design concepts that not only benefit them, but the needs of their dogs and family as well

CONSULTATION NOTES Since this is only a guest bath, Shawn and Jalen do not need as much storage as the space currently provides.

They prefer a separate soaking tub so they can bathe the dogs and have a space for the extended families kids when sleeping over as well as freestanding shower.

Open to having a creative twist in this upstairs bath. It currently functions fine but is in need of an update.

Natural elements reminiscent of driftwood, the rocky coastline and colors of the sea and sky.

A more or less monochromatic color scheme Consider their style to be modern, but considering their beach-front location, want to incorporate natural and organic/biophilic elements in the redesign.
