CELEBRATION OF NEW MINISTRY January 25th , 2017 + 6:00 p.m.

The Rev. Greg Smith previously served as The Anglican Chaplain to The Citadel’s St. Alban’s Chapel and established a Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter on campus for the in season teams that couldn't regularly attend worship. Additionally he established the I’On campus of Church of the Holy Cross in Mount Pleasant, SC. Fr. Smith served previously as a church planter in Colorado where, by God’s grace, he led the formation of a new congregation which existed to reach seekers not present in local congregations. The church grew from zero to 100 people eventually becoming a multisite congregation of 350 people along the Front Range of Colorado.

Simultaneously, Fr. Smith was the Vice President of Apartment Life, a Christian based non-profit organization devoted to building community and transforming lives in apartment properties throughout the United States. He helped to mobilize supporters and more than 50 teams reaching over 60,000 people weekly with the Gospel and saw Christ bring over 300 people per year into the Kingdom.

Fr. Smith graduated from Wheaton College in Chicago with a Bachelor of Music and holds an MDiv from Trinity School for Ministry. Greg has also worked as a paramedic/firefighter on Chicago’s near north side and learned the value of quick assessment of problems and teamwork solutions. It was in Chicago, the “berretta belt” that Fr. Smith found Anglicanism and a calling to a Church that could marry the Catholic zeal for Christ’s body and Evangelical fervor for those who ‘aren’t yet here ”rooted in Word and Sacrament.

Greg travels yearly to Kampala, Uganda to teach African pastors and aid workers at Anglican Renewal University. He is part of the Training Leaders International team based out of Bethlehem Baptist Church founded by John Piper. Previous classes taught include Daniel and Revelations, Ecclesiology, and Christian Formation.

At home Greg and his wife Anna have been building their own "team". Zach (16), Caleb (13) and Gabriella (11) enjoy keeping the “team” on their toes!

But, no matter how good that resume looks… it’s just a pile of rubbish. The two things you need to know about Greg is that he is a great sinner and he serves a great Savior.

The Rt. Rev. Mark Joseph Lawrence was born in Bakersfield, California, on March 19, 1950. A fifth generation Californian he was educated at California State University, Bakersfield (BA, 1976) and Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry (M. Div. 1980). He has also received honorary degrees from Nashotah House (D.D. 2008) and Sewanee (D.D. 2009). He has ministered in a wide variety of parish settings from suburban church plant, rural mission, inner city church, to downtown parish in California and Pennsylvania. These include Holy Family, Fresno, CA; Saint Mark’s, Shafter, California (1981-1984); Saint Stephen’s, McKeesport, Pennsylvania (1984-1997) where he also established on Mon Valley Tri-Church Ministry taking two smaller congregations under a multi-staff network; and Saint Paul’s, Bakersfield, California (19972007). Known for being a dedicated pastor-teacher, Mark also served, among many other capacities, Commission on Ministry, the Standing Committee, and the Board of Examining Chaplains, and Rural Dean. He also served as a deputy to the TEC General Conventions of 2003 and 2006. He has published articles on devotional and ecclesial concerns in various periodicals. Bishop Lawrence has also been an invited participant to GAFCON 2008-Jerusalem and GAFCON 2013-Nairobi. In addition, he has been an invited observer at all of the most recent Global South gatherings internationally. Mark has been married to Allison Kathleen Taylor since 1973. They have five children: Chad, an Anglican priest and headmaster in Beaufort, SC, married to Wendy, they have four children; eldest daughter Adelia, married to Stephen Matson who is planting an Anglican congregation in Southern California and parents of three children; middle daughter, Emily, married to Jacob Jefferis, parents of three children and expecting their fourth, live in Grove City, PA; Joseph, ordained priest, serving at Trinity Anglican Church, Bakersfield, CA, married to Joette, they have three children; and Chelsea, married to Jason Hamshaw, a Priest Associate at Old St. Andrew's,Charleston, SC. They have three boys. Mark enjoys reading on various subjects, particularly literature, biography, and history; out-of- door activities such as hiking, backpacking, canoeing, fishing, and jogging.

The Rev. Ryan Davidson is the pastor of Grace Baptist Chapel, a Reformed Baptist fellowship in Hampton, Virginia. Ryan holds degrees from Samford University (B.A.), The College of William & Mary (M.Ed.) in Counseling, and Southern Seminary (Th.M.) in Louisville, KY and he is completing a (Ph.D.) from The Free University of Amsterdam, Netherlands in Early Church History/Pastoral Theology. He is a full member of the Evangelical Theological Society, a member of the American Society of Church History, the North American Patristics Society, The Bavinck Society, and is a Fellow at the Center for Pastor Theologians.
