Choir: Behold a flow’r is growing, of purest form and grace; as prophets sang foreknowing, a branch of Jesse’s race shall bear one perfect flow’r, in midst of coldest winter, at darkest midnight hour. Isaiah had foretold it in words of promise sure; and Mary’s arms enfold it, an infant, meek and pure.

Through God’s eternal will, this child to us is given at midnight, calm and still.

This flow’r, so weak and tender with fragrance fills the air, dispells in glorious splendor the darkness of our fear. True God, yet human child; from sin and death he saves us, this rose of Mary mild. O Savior, Child of Mary, who feels all human woe; O Savior, King of Glory, who triumphs o’er the foe; bring us at last, we pray, to the gleaming courts of heaven, to never ending day.
