Strawberry Pageant tradition continues By Lorie Foley Ashland Strawberry Faire ASHLAND – The Ashland Strawberry Faire is celebrating its 37th year this summer. One of the most beloved traditions is the Miss Strawberry and Mister Strawberry Pageant. The Strawberry Pageant is a free, non-competitive pageant. Winners are selected as their names are drawn from a strawberry basket. The Pageant takes place on Blackwell Stage, which is sponsored this year by Railside

Law Group and the Town of Ashland. Kids as young as 3 years old can sign up to participate, and are grouped by age categories. Michelle Henry is returning as the coordinator for the Strawberry Pageant, a job she covets. “Watching the kids walk forward as their names are called is too precious,” Henry said. Special guest “Miss Historic Hanover” Hallie HoveyMurray is planning to assist with the festivities. see PAGEANT, pg. 7
