ICHMOND – A Patrick Henry High School student was among the 20152016 Ronald McDonald House of Richmond RMHC Scholars. Olivia Phillips received the recognition, which awards scholarships to local graduating high school seniors across the Greater Richmond area. The program, funded in partnership with the McDonald’s Family Restaurants of Greater Richmond, RMHC Global and RMHC of

Richmond, offers graduating high school seniors the opportunity to secure funding for their first semester at a higher learning institution. Phillips was among students honored Wednesday, Aug. 10, during a special evening reception to celebrate the award. She joined with fellow recipients, local McDonald’s franchisees, RMHC of Richmond Board members, and Ronald McDonald at Catch Your Limit Consulting in Richmond. RMHC Scholars were selected based on a variety of criteria, including: their academic records, commitment to their communities, and letters of

recommendation. Each awarded student receives a $2,000 scholarship. Students recently were notified and were presented with scholarship certificates at their high school’s Senior Assemblies prior to graduation. “We congratulate this year’s RMHC Scholars and their terrific accomplishments,” said Kerry Blumberg, executive director of RMHC Richmond. “We look forward to recognizing these students and their families at a reception during which the awarded students will meet fellow RMHC Scholars winners, local McDonald’s franchisees,

and the RMHC Scholars judging committee during this special event.” “McDonald’s believes it is important to celebrate outstanding students who make positive differences through their academic pursuits and community involvement. We are delighted to honor those students through the RMHC Scholars program,” said Sue Durlak, McDonald’s Richmond Franchisee and member of the RMHC Richmond Board of Directors. “McDonald’s is proud to support numerous community and educational programs throughout the year in the Greater Richmond area.”
