01 LIBRARY DESIGN

The inspiration was drawn from how in nature the quiteness of a desert can be related to the spcae of a library. The site on the other hand was amidst a concrete jungle, which gave an opportunity to use and build something thats sits apart from the rest like how an oasis is present in deserts.

The design incorporates free moving spaces, high ceilings and a super roof which was inspired by the lightness of paper. The space tends to a wide user group and caters to their needs, they are also zoned in such manner. Reading nooks are provided for leisure reading with dedicated work areas and co-workking spaces.

CAMPUS DESIGN The idea and vision for the campus was to create a central axis of landscape that creates points of interest on a larger site level to a block level. The inclusion of the “katte”, a raised platform built under the shade of a tree proves to be a good space for social interactions. These spaces also give a sense of belonging to the people coming into a big metropolitan from rural villages.

The presence of the landscape elements creates interesting viewpoints and spaces in the site. It almost creates an envelope for the built spaces, helping in reducing the micro climate of the site and also channels the wind from the unwanted spaces.

The central plaza is the main focal point on the site. The pedestrian pathways have been designed in such a way that all the paths lead to the plaza itself.

WASTE MANAGEMENT HUB DESIGN The main objective behind this project was to create a unique space that conver ts a ‘Non - place’ into a ‘Place’, which maximizes the output of reducing, reusing , recycling and refurbishing of the waste brought into the site.

The process looks at turning regular plastic into infinite plastic.

There is a huge gap between the Rural and Urban context, wherein the users are from a rural setting and the Campus being situated in a big Metropolis.

The design incorporates brutalistic and modern architecture at the same, having elements such as the racchabanda or the “katte”, vast open spaces, interconnected pathways (galis), all of which are found in the Rural areas so as to give a sense of belonging to the users.

URBAN DESIGN The urban design studio deals with interventions made in the kalasipalyam market area with different dimensions of study. The social dimension is focused here, which looks both into the socio-economic as well the socio-cultural aspect.
