An Ashburton health professional has dubbed Australia’s new ‘no jab, no pay’ immunisation policy “too punitive”. The Australian government wants to strip welfare and childcare benefits from parents who refuse to vaccinate their children, but Ashburton GP spokeswoman Dr Charlotte Cox says she personally disagrees with the policy and with the approach. Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott announced the ‘no jab, no pay’ policy on Sunday, which could leave parents who refuse to comply missing out on up to $15,000 worth of payments.
