Stokes ‘a little bit rusty’ England superstar allrounder Ben Stokes has failed to fire on return to action and with Cricket Australia refusing to rake over his Ashes prospects. Stokes flopped on Sunday playing for Canterbury in a one-day game, making just two from seven balls before conceding 49 runs from nine wicketless overs in a game at Rangiora. “It’s expected he was going to be a little bit rusty,” Canterbury coach Gary Stead said. This a mixed Canadian Foursome and the Presentation and dinner will follow starting at 6pm. An earlier start is scheduled to allow time for players to get prepared for the evening festivities. Starting times: Morning 8.00am. Afternoon report to the Pro shop at 11.00 for an 11.30pm start. Nine hole golfers report at 12.00 for a 12.30pm start.
