Police oppose Cromie bail
A 29-year-old Ashburton man, in custody for the past two months while police process a mountain of paperwork in relation to more than 100 charges of burglary, theft and dishonesty, was granted bail when he appeared in the Ashburton District Court yesterday. Jayden Eric Cromie was one of three arrested in relation to the crime spree

earlier this year, when dozens of Ashburton people reported vehicles parked on their properties had been broken into and items stolen. Cromie was granted bail by Judge Allan Roberts, who said conditions of his release included a 24-hour curfew at the Ashburton home of his father and a requirement to present himself at the door
when police conducted bail checks. Cromie was also banned from drinking alcohol or taking non-prescription drugs.
