An 11-year-old girl suffered critical head injuries following a skiing accident on Mt Hutt over the weekend. Emergency services were called to Mt Hutt on Sunday at around

mid-day following the accident. “The rescue helicopter was sent to uplift an 11-year-old girl who was skiiing with her family,” GCH Aviation general manager Simon Duncan said. Duncan said the girl, who is believed to not be local, had sus-

tained critical head injuries along with other multi-trauma injuries after falling down the southern slope of Mt Hutt, and was accompanied to Christchurch Hospital by her mother. “She was wearing a helmet,” he said.
