Web Mistakes That Cost You Customers Nate Jones, director of product design, Dealer Inspire We all make snap decisions about business and personal relationships every day and 90% of your customers will meet you for the first time via your website. Many will leave, and never come back, if they find the experience frustrating. Keep your website simple, fast and easy to use. Here are some common mistakes to avoid:

1 - Forgetting Your Goal

2 - Too Many Distractions

Competing assets and different page experiences make it more challenging to get results. Define the outcome you’re trying to achieve, then craft the experience.

Too many buttons confuse the customer, and they take no action. Narrow your Calls to Action (CTAs) down to make the path a shopper should take clear.

3 - Inconsistent Branding

4 - Disconnected Experiences

Multiple parties adding content to your website can make your it sloppy and confusing. Use your OEM as a base for your style guide and get others to adhere to it.

Third part widgets can interfere with the user experience. Use your tools like a customer would (on your phone). Work with your providers to solve disconnects.

5 - Form Friction Too many forms, forms with too many fields, or forms that don’t lead to instant answers put customers off. Moving to a conversational approach can lead to a 47% increase in leads.
