We all make snap decisions about business and personal relationships every day and 90% of your customers will meet you for the first time via your website. Many will leave, and never come back, if they find the experience frustrating.

Keep your website simple, fast and easy to use. Here are some common mistakes to avoid:
1 - Forgetting Your Goal
Competing assets and different page experiences make it more challenging to get results. Define the outcome you’re trying to achieve, then craft the experience.
2 - Too Many Distractions
Too many buttons confuse the customer, and they take no action. Narrow your Calls to Action (CTAs) down to make the path a shopper should take clear.
3 - Inconsistent Branding
Multiple parties adding content to your website can make your it sloppy and confusing. Use your OEM as a base for your style guide and get others to adhere to it.
4 - Disconnected Experiences
Third part widgets can interfere with the user experience. Use your tools like a customer would (on your phone). Work with your providers to solve disconnects.
5 - Form Friction
Too many forms, forms with too many fields, or forms that don’t lead to instant answers put customers off. Moving to a conversational approach can lead to a 47% increase in leads.
Your website is a manifestation of how it feels to do business with you
6 - Dead Ends
Never leave the customer hanging. Always let your customers know what to expect next, or the natural next steps they can take.
7 - Mobile An Afterthought
Two-thirds of people who visit are on a mobile device. Change your mindset to ensure you’re providing the best experience possible to the largest segment of your audience.
8 - Poor Accessibility
Only 2% of websites are fully accessible for people living with a visual impairment. Work with third party vendors to make your website accessible to all users.
9 - Failure To Update
Technology, consumer behaviour and best practices never stop evolving. Don’t be afraid to redesign your website experience from the ground up every three years.
10 - Poor Planning
Implementing changes without a plan to roll them out can lead to disastrous results. Have a plan in place to analyse and measure the effects of each individual change.
11 - Looking Like Everyone Else
Generic web design, stock photos and uninspiring content won’t leave a lasting impression about your dealership. Highlight the real people at your dealership to start building rapport.
